Basically Ryder decided to bypass Unique's gender identity and call her a "dude" and a "boy" to her face when she explicitly stated to him that she was a woman. And so then ofc the solution is to ~sing it out~ but thank GOD the writers went the right direction and Unique wouldn't forgive him until he acknowledged that she was a woman. And then there was this whole thing about how Unique doesn't have to prove her gender identity to Ryder because it's true to her and that's what matters (which was handled pretty okay imo) and then Ryder was all "I'm sorry and as your friend I shouldn't have acted that way". And everything went better than expected.
