Celebrity Good Samaritans

While some argue that celebrities are put on a pedestal, many stars have gone above and beyond to earn their accolades—and we're not just talking about doing their jobs well (although that's great, too!) In honor of Good Samaritan Day 2013, we want to take a look back at all of the celebs who have sprung into action during times of need.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE
Playing a heroine on- and offscreen, the Hunger Games star comforted a woman who had passed out on her lawn until paramedics arrived.

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY
This superhero has many powers and most certainly isn't afraid to use them. The actor reportedly rescued a little girl from a coyote at a Los Angeles park and resuscitated a 50-year-old woman

DEMI MOORE
Oh, the power of words. After one of the actress' Twitter followers posted suicidal thoughts, Demi cautiously and sweetly replied. Her response gave police enough information to locate and help the distressed girl.

BRAD PITT
Man overboard! While in Venice promoting Burn After Reading, Brad Pitt pulled a fan out of the water after he had tripped and fallen in. Although shocked and scared, the boy left happy and unharmed with an autograph.

WILL FERRELL
Talk about a slippery slope! While filming an episode of Man vs. Wild, the funnyman saved adventurer Bear Grylls' life after he fell off an ice cliff near the Arctic Circle.

The second half of this is so friggin unnecessary it's shameful.

why is hoping that a kind, generous person get away from a cult a bad thing?
highd 14th-Mar-2013 03:37 pm (UTC)
It's not unnecessary at all hoping someone that is kind and generous gets out cult is something we should all root for.
skonka 14th-Mar-2013 03:40 pm (UTC)
That 'cult' is working for him.
highd 14th-Mar-2013 03:44 pm (UTC)
That "cult" has ruined two marriages.Probably has made it impossible for him to have a relationship that doesn't end in divorce, and I can't imagine how much money he has forked over to be the celebrity spokes idiot for this mess.

I don't think it's working for him at all, and I don't think it worked for Nicole either given her relationship with her children.

Hahahaha, at ruined two marriages. Lolz.
As for forking over money, it's his money. I'd rather he did that than forking it over to a drug dealer like some of these non-Scientology celebrities.

Yes, because buying weed and getting stoned is dirty while funding "The Hole" and enslaving children for labor so worthwhile.

You should take your child enslavement evidence to the police because as it is is, you're committing a crime by keeping it to the cozy hateful confines of ONTD.

This isn't a secret. It's been written about enough in non-sensational places, I don't get why authorities aren't arresting more Scientology leaders for what they are doing to people, however I don't get why priests have been allowed to walk free after molesting children years either.

Once something is a religion, and gets tax exempt status it's like a blanket is tossed over it and nothing is ever done to serve justice to those committing crimes.

Sure the Catholics had to pay money, but how many of their priests were punished by the law instead of hidden away

Lets not be stupid here, there is tons of proof that leaders in Scientology are using their followers for bad things, and treating them like shit, not feeding them when they are sent away, held in trailers or office trailers and forced to beat the shit out of each other. However it's a religion and until they are stripped of their tax exempt status and considered a cult by authorities the leaders will do what they want with their employees and followers and that's the whole ball game.

The only stupid here is believing huge crimes are being committed AGAINST WHITE CHILDREN, that it's being discussed and the police are sitting there thinking 'we've got better shit to do'.

You don't believe that and I don't believe that because it simply isn't true. So stop rotating that rubbish. It's run its course.

Huge crimes were committed against a ton of white kids when the priests where molesting them and abusing their power... How many priest have you seen gathered up and sent to prison for their acts. They were protected and cloistered away by there leaders.

Religion is a powerful thing in the US, even if your religion is based on space aliens and audits that comes with a lot of power, especially when you have tons of celebrities out there supporting it. So I could see a blind eye being turned towards the injustices towards Scientology children just like they were the children of Catholics that were abused. I am sorry if you can see the truth in this but these are the facts.
highd 14th-Mar-2013 03:46 pm (UTC)
Sorry if you are a Scientologist and feel slighted.
skonka 14th-Mar-2013 03:57 pm (UTC)
I't's impossible for you to slight me.

Hell to be honest I would load up all my friends that go to church into a white van and have them go through deprogramming.
