Whatever happened to good old fashioned concerts without set changes, costumes and dancing?

They didn't need it back then because success was based primarily on musical talent...

they aren't afford for his venues where you want to please people in the nosebleeds as well as close up.

Huh?

lol fml sorry that was autocorrect all over

*they can't afford to do that type of small show when playing huge venues because the show has to look interesting to the nosebleed ticket holders as well as those close to the stage

naw man people still put on basic rock concerts and such in huge venues and everyone's happy.
vanishingbee 14th-Mar-2013 05:14 pm (UTC)
rock concerts, not pop. aka the fans are old and used to it, not young and live-tweeting every hair flip.

Some people still do that, though...? Not sure why it's ~the end of good concerts~ or w/e if Taylor's making her tour more of a production.

they still exist.

They haven't gone anywhere. I just saw Gary Clark (recently) he's all about the music.

Those still exist. But a lot of her recent album is very pop-heavy and high-energy and her young audience are probably very appreciative of the spectacle to go with those upbeat songs. Also speaking personally, I'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars in tickets for nosebleed seats to watch somebody sit on a bare stage playing guitar/piano for 2 hours and I don't blame anyone else for refusing to either.

People in the past used to go to concerts because it was hard to see their favorite artists whenever they pleased... but now we have 1000 HDTV channels and streaming music videos/albums on the internet whenever you want so for me I am not going to pay $100 to sit 50 rows back and watch someone stand there and sing a song with less quality through an amphitheater speakers than I can hear on my headphones. A big show is something that draws me to see them live because it's like a music video for the album and that's something you can't find on TV/Internet until the DVD is released a year later.

And there is nothing diminishing the fact that these people are still there performing their music. Why does anyones respect level go up is someone just stands there or go down if they put on a visual show? People are so jokingly convoluted in that sense. It's simple, visual stimulus to draw in a larger crowd that nowadays lives off of visual entertainment.
