i almost hate how meta destiel is now. it used to be all subtext and lingering stares, now it's getting a little obvious that they're pandering to the shippers.
Mte. The pandering has always been the most annoying thing about Supernatural, to me, i feel like its just constant now, and not even just with dean/cas.
Yeah I ship some stuff on SPN, but their little comments they're started doing always come across as so wink wink nudge nudge from a bunch of frat boys who really don't get it but jut find it the height of hilarity for Cas to say he was never in Dean's ass. Umm okay then
Omg, MTE. It's never seemed like...coupley to me, ive never really gotten why everyone thinks it could be an actual thing. Its always seemed like they were laughing at the idea.
Yeah but to be fair, imo, Jensen and Misha play a lot of warmth and care in Dean and Cas' relationship. Now I do not ship them(I don't ship anyone), I view it as a deep unusual friendship but I don't think the actors, within the show, treat it as a joke. I think they play the emotions, whether they are concerned for each other or angry at each other or just confused with each other, earnestly.
So I do think the writers can be very fratboy and unfortunately they tend to stick Dean with a lot of that but I think Jensen and Misha do try to keep the relationship more real emotionally.
This. They need to shit or get off the pot tbh. If they're going to do it, they need to do it, or stop making it so fucking obvious and just leave it in the subtext.
I hate that Fate lady too. That's the consensus, right? That's she's not an angel she's one of the Fates? The older sister of the one who looked like an librarian?
My mom used to be a librarian when we lived in Landstuhl, Germany (I was like 3). I got a Fairy book and a pin that says I'm library lucky out of that bit haha
I am so fucking done with the writers making Cas lie to the people he cares about most and obviously value above his own existence. It's old, it's been done.
It bothers me that Dean seems to think Castiel is incapable of doing anything on his own. He hears that Cas is looking for the other half of the demon tablet and his reaction is "Without us?" It's like he thinks Castiel needs their help.
I think Dean just wants to help, or wants Cas to need him. We already know that Dean needs and wants Cas around (which he said in Purgatory).
But I get what you mean. Fandom sometimes portrays Cas as kind of incompetent and extremely naive and I'm like....Cas is crazy powerful and intelligent, and he's old as hell. It bugs me sometimes lol
Actually Castiel DOES need their help so Dean's not wrong. Dean KNOWS there is something wrong with Castiel, he's felt there was something wrong since the episode he came back. He doesn't know exactly what it is but he knows something is wrong, something sketchy is going on.
So the question is a valid one. The show has proven in the past that Castiel, angel or no, often does in fact need their help, just as they've needed his. In fact in the past Castiel has come to them for their help, so even he isn't above asking for their help. Supernatural angels may have nifty powers but they are not super wise and all powerful and they don't have all the answers, even if some of them think they do.
Also this isn't a case of "can't do anything on his own". Castiel knows Dean and Sam are looking for that tablet so actually it's a valid question anyway. Why isn't he including them, even on an informatory basis, when presumably he's looking for it for the same reason they are? Castiel can't read it either, Kevin needs to do it and they are all working together on this.
It doesn't really matter if he can find it on his own. In this case, they should be working together, even if it's just him keeping them apprised of his progress or lack thereof in finding the tablet. If Cas isn't working WITH them, then there is a chance he's working against them(and in this case, through no fault of his own, he is).
Something ALOT of people seem to constantly forget is that Dean cannot get in touch with Castiel except by praying to him, he has no way of knowing if Castiel even gets the messages until Castiel chooses to show up(if he isn't being controlled by someone else). Castiel COMPLETELY controls the flow of information between them, which puts Dean at a real disadvantage and quite fairly means Dean is extra protective of that sharing of information.
