M.I.A.'s Ex/In-Laws Trying to Take Her Son Away?

M.I.A just posted this on twitter. She's clearly upset:

but why on TWITTER, you dummy?
saikaro_x 13th-Mar-2013 07:44 pm (UTC)
MIA has no filter
winniechili 13th-Mar-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
Maybe she has no other way of contacting them?
eden 13th-Mar-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
Probably in hopes of shaming them.
nicolars 13th-Mar-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that could even be used in court against her. Vent to your lawyer, not to Twitter.
la_petite_singe 13th-Mar-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
MTE. Really bad idea.
mistress_f 13th-Mar-2013 08:05 pm (UTC)
ikr
surviving_joke 13th-Mar-2013 08:08 pm (UTC)
that was my first thought but mbe she feels a bit helpless right now idk ://
mercurialness 13th-Mar-2013 10:31 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I can definitely sympathize. If someone were trying to fuck with me with custody of my son, I'd be everything but rational. I think if you don't have kids, you might not understand that Mama Bear is an entity that cannot be controlled.
m_h_p 13th-Mar-2013 08:08 pm (UTC)
I think she's deleted them, someone must have warned her about the legal issues.
preesi 13th-Mar-2013 08:22 pm (UTC)
Witnesses!
silly_izzy_me 13th-Mar-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)

MTE!
daddyissues 14th-Mar-2013 12:51 am (UTC)
i think you guys are trying too hard to find a sinister ulterior motive - sometimes when you're really upset, you turn to dumb things like twitter or facebook for some immediate emotional support. not the best move but imo that's the case here.

i don't get why people say this in a community where people spill their guts in free for alls

sweet_honesty 14th-Mar-2013 04:03 am (UTC)
That's something that could harm her case if he's really fighting for sole custody.
mjspice 14th-Mar-2013 08:19 pm (UTC)
IKR? That's kinda dumb of her.
harderthanalist 15th-Mar-2013 04:10 am (UTC)
Because twitter is where you pour out your feeling
saikaro_x 13th-Mar-2013 07:44 pm (UTC)
just saw that on twitter...hope everything works out for her :/
honeebs 13th-Mar-2013 07:45 pm (UTC)
Not the place.
Call a lawyer and get off twitter.

I have no idea what the situation is here, but is she trying to take the baby away from the father? How is that much different?
Or I could be completely confused and out of my league here. Carry on if so.
bellwetherr 13th-Mar-2013 07:53 pm (UTC)
He might be going for sole custody while they have shared custody.
zombiee_ritual 13th-Mar-2013 07:56 pm (UTC)
No no no, I think she is implying he is going for soul custody.
ohdarlingx 13th-Mar-2013 07:59 pm (UTC)
LOL SOUL CUSTODY
saikaro_x 13th-Mar-2013 07:47 pm (UTC)
wasn't there a rumor about this happening like last year? i remember her ex tweeted support of her, saying she's a good mom, etc.
maidenhell 13th-Mar-2013 11:43 pm (UTC)
Someone wrote a magazine article implying she was an absent mom and he came to her defense.
jeterluva 14th-Mar-2013 12:06 am (UTC)
It was that her mother in law was with the kids while m.i.a. was gone for weeks at a time or something like that.
flashnights 13th-Mar-2013 07:47 pm (UTC)
can they really take custody away from her if there's no abuse? i thought if the parents lived in 2 diff places they usually got joint-custody or s/t
kalie_m 13th-Mar-2013 07:57 pm (UTC)
I've heard that if a man asks for custody he is very likely to get it, no matter what's going on.
emologues 13th-Mar-2013 08:00 pm (UTC)
really???? i've never heard of a man getting sole custody, from what i understand it normally goes to the mom.
winniechili 13th-Mar-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
Errrrrr no.
hearthecity 13th-Mar-2013 08:02 pm (UTC)
lol what
mikochin 13th-Mar-2013 08:03 pm (UTC)
...Is this a joke? If not; No, it's the absolute opposite...
hannahgrace456 13th-Mar-2013 08:03 pm (UTC)
Really? I feel like mothers get custody more often. And if it's joint custody, the mother still has the child(ren) more often.
the_glow_worm 14th-Mar-2013 01:31 am (UTC)

Girl, this is one of those things you SHOULD NOT be tweeting about.
mammary_glands 13th-Mar-2013 07:47 pm (UTC)
i thought she and ben were on pretty good terms, though? this sucks. i hope they handle it.
abiding 13th-Mar-2013 07:47 pm (UTC)
Girl you need to get on the phone and call your lawyer like now.
calderone9 13th-Mar-2013 07:49 pm (UTC)
Damn what a terrible situation :(
it_has_been 13th-Mar-2013 07:50 pm (UTC)
anyone got background deets on why this may be happening??
sunredskyblue 13th-Mar-2013 08:00 pm (UTC)
there was some shit out last yr that was saying she was never around for her son. not sure how true that is.
roguewave3 13th-Mar-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
It wasn't because he was on tour with her and Ben confirmed it was a lie.
highd 13th-Mar-2013 07:50 pm (UTC)
I actually know this family. Our business partner introduced me to the mother about 2 years ago and I have had occasion to socialize with them. Typical rich people with very skewed priorities.
nevermademe 13th-Mar-2013 07:58 pm (UTC)
maya or ben's family or both?
highd 13th-Mar-2013 08:00 pm (UTC)
Ben's. I just recently moved from Montreal and you can't go far without their name being brought up. I would see them when I was a guest at their club.
