Peter Jackson 'pushes cast hard'
Richard Armitage says Peter Jackson is always pushing The Hobbit cast.
Richard Armitage has joked Peter Jackson pushes his cast to keep going, even if they're "on their knees vomiting into a bucket".
The British actor stars in the final two installments of the director's adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, playing Thorin Oakenshield.
Richard quipped the movie mogul knows how to get the most out of the stars and would push them to the limit during filming.
"The thing about Peter Jackson is that he just doesn't understand the word 'no'," Richard laughed to Total Film.
"Even when you're on your knees vomiting into a bucket about to pass out, he'll be like, 'Do you have another take in you?' And it's not in an egotistical or demanding way, it's just he throws down the gauntlet and people pick it up."
In the past, Richard has starred mainly in television and also took on a part in Captain America: The First Avenger.
The 41-year-old knew The Hobbit franchise would be his big break and is very grateful for the opportunity.
"I knew before I started there would never be another film like this for me," he admitted.
"Not just the experience of making the film but the incredible complexity of the character, the transformation of my physicality... It ticks every box I could ever want as an actor. And then working with Peter Jackson, who takes you to a new place in terms of work. It's probably the most important piece of work I'll ever do."
