Tender-hearted country-pop superstar Taylor Swift fulfilled an ailing little girl’s dream on Saturday (March 9). The singer made a special visit to Omaha’s Children’s Hospital & Medical Center to visit a young fan who’s been battling cancer.
The singing star learned of Lauren's plight after her parents reached out to Swift and a YouTube video of her song “You Belong With Me” made the rounds with changed lyrics about the 10-year-old girl and her battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.
From Lauren's website: "First off, I know word has already started to spread, but for those of you who haven’t heard, Taylor Swift did come to visit Lauren yesterday afternoon. How AWESOME is that?
Now to the details…Taylor Swift stopped by Lauren's room at the hospital around 1 pm in the afternoon. She spent about an hour chatting with Lauren and Jonathan. Jonathan played a song on the ukulele for her. Lauren got in on the act and played a song on the electronic piano key board that she got for her birthday. Taylor was very impressed with both performances. I don't mean "polite impressed". I mean "real impressed". Taylor shared stories from her childhood as she was getting her start as an entertainer and she told us all about the special stage designs of her new show. She posed for photos with everyone. And, in case you are not aware, she is a very photogenic young lady. Just before she had to leave, Taylor got out a bag of goodies for Lauren and provided autographs on notebooks, photographs and guitar picks. Finally, she signed a special autograph to Jonathan on the front of the ukulele. It was a great afternoon for everyone and I'm sure Lauren will remember it for many years to come. So, to Taylor Swift, from a very grateful dad, thanks for brightening our day!"
Of course, Swift has a longstanding reputation for helping kids with health struggles. Last year she wrote a special song in memory Ronan Thompson, 3, who died of a neuroblastoma. Swift performed ‘Ronan’ at the televised ‘Stand Up to Cancer‘ telethon. Swift kicks off her “Red” world tour in Omaha on Wednesday.

That said, it's nice that Taylor seems to be in touch with her fans.

during my 2 hospital stays in high school for my digestive stuff, it broke my heart when i passed by oncology patients. my sister's friend is an oncology nurse and i don't get how she keeps her emotions under control
“Has a fan ever made you cry?” “Yeah … you know, for me, it’s never going to be OK, no matter how many times I see little kids with cancer. At no point do you ever become accustomed to it. At no point do you ever just brush it off and say, ‘Oh well, there’s another kid who’s dying." Over the years, I’ve toured in these places and you see a little girl who’ll come through a meet and greet and she’s so full of life but she’s lost her hair. And then they come through a year later and you’re like ‘Hey Lexi, how are you doing?!’ And she’s like ‘Oh, I’m doing good!’ And her parents update you. Then they come through a year and a half later … and she’s not there.”
Sometimes she just sounds so articulate and lovely.
But really, that's nice of her.

Praying for that little girl though. She's the real hero here.
idk how celebs do it, i'd be a crying mess
I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago and just really spiraled into a really bad place emotionally while I was there. Taking a warm, carefully modified bath (with supervision and help since I'm considered a falling and seizure risk and had a head full of electrodes/had EKG stuff stuck to me that couldn't get wet),using my favourite scarf to keep my hair back, putting on some cute PJs and coordinating warm knee socks and painting my nails a pretty colour made me feel a little better about my situation and A LOT less like pulling the trigger when I when I got home a week later.
It's the little trivial things that make you feel more like yourself and less like you're bidding your time to your end,bb.
and who says the pic is from her camp, i thought it was from the little girl's website?
