'Hottest MCs In The Game VIII': The Full List!


Big Sean, Future and Meek Mill lock down spots on MTV's hip-hop power ranking ... so far.
Kendrick Lamar brings the crown to Compton as the #1 'Hottest MC In The Game.'

2 Chainz reinvents himself, slaying G.O.O.D. Music features and a solo LP that helps land him the #2 spot in the "Hottest MCs in the Game".
Rick Ross rounds out the top as the #3 "Hottest MC in the Game" with a new album and the MMG legacy.

Nas makes it to MTV's "Hottest MC in the Game" list at #4, after a long, revered career.

Drake is the #5 "Hottest MC in the Game," as MTV News' hip-hop power
ranking reaches the halfway mark. So far, MCs including Kanye West and
Future have also taken position on the "VIII" list.

well that's glaringly obvious

But even so, Nas has been in the game for a long time, I can't believe he's being billed below people that have just come up

By default, by his success + talent level he should be no.1 (of the people on here)

i don't disagree. people value different things in hip hop/rap now. i'd guess most people who listen to several of these artist don't listen to nas, anyway. he's probably only on the list because of LIG, but if that didn't come out he'd be irrelevant to them.

For all the problems with that list,when an artist comes out with a crtically acclaimed album even if there's no commercial impact, they still award him. If they can give Raekwon a spot in 2009, Nas was definetly going on the list this year because at least within Hip Hop circles, Nas made some noise the past 12 months with the album, more touring, public apperances and guest spots (Ross, Nicki, MMG, Wayne, Mill's albums/mixtapes)


Im just happy he got in the top 10 and really pleased they put him ahead of other dudes who maybe bigger but ultimatley didnt release an album the past 12 months

I didnt think he was gonna get number 1 just off Kendrick having a bigger year but Im happy they finally recognized he had a banner year.
He should have been on the 2007 and maybe 2008 list over Andre 3000 who was only on cause of 2 remix apperances.
