I know what you mean. It's kinda like how for years prior to "Deathly Hallows," there had been so many great Snape/Lily fics written about their friendship, Snape's crush, etc. So when I actually read JKR's version of events in those flashbacks in book 7 . . . it was kinda disappointing and lame, lol.
