Marina and the Diamonds: preview of her tour and documentary 'Heartcore'



The Welsh songstress Marina and the Diamonds has been an official Big Deal back in the UK for a while, but now it’s time for the rest of us to catch up. Marina’s most recent album, Electra Heart, debuted at No. 1 in back in Britain — and her opening gig for Coldplay’s American tour and quirky-pop singles like “How to Be a Heartbreaker” have helped propel her to cult status Stateside.

But her upcoming Glee-ification could be exactly the thing that brings her a wider American audience. “Heartbreaker” will be getting the official Ryan Murphy stamp of approval on the upcoming March 14th episode of Glee (Lea Michele will be singing it, if you were wondering), and Marina will follow that up with her Lonely Hearts Club tour of America.

To celebrate, the singer has released an exclusive preview of the tour, and you can watch it exclusively here. The clip also serves as a preview of her upcoming Heartcore documentary, which will offer fans an inside look at Marina’s Electra Heart journey and the Lonely Hearts Club tour.

Ugh I love her so much. I can't believe a friend of mine, who went to see Coldplay just for them, saw her and was like "oh, she's cool, I guess."

I will never forget the day when two little girls who were clearly under the age of 10 came into my old job and "Primadonna" was on the radio and they started belting out the words...it was hysterical to think that little kids know her/that song

Her concert was so much fun. I saw her come onto her tour bus while waiting in line omg. Too bad I couldn't stay and stalk the tour bus and get pictures. Maybe next time.

i didnt' even realise she was doing a documentary!i'm sure it will be amazing like everything else she does. her love of crop tops has rubbed off on me lol.

I'm missing her for a third time because she's playing on the same day as Fall Out Boy in NYC. Her shows look so fun!

the concert i went to see her in NYC was probably the worst concert i've ever been to crowd-wise. she was ok but she kind of definitely mostly sucks.

I've been to three of her concerts and I thought she was pretty great. She gets a little carried away with the high notes sometimes but her voice as always been on point when I saw her.

oh no not her voice! just her..and her music. her voice is def an acquired taste u either like it or dont. i used to be obsessed with her when i was 17/18 and now i just...dont care. the concert i guess was the nail in my coffin but she herself was ok. if it were a different crowd it would have been a lot more fun tho singing teen idle and homewrecker together was fun

Getting to see her life is such a magical experience. Like she is very before her time and I feel so blessed to witness this star rise. She's a different kind of star and people don't get it now, but she will be appreciated for years to come. Iconic <3

She said in a fan video last year that she was looking at this January to tour but that's come and gone. I think it's just too expensive for her :/

I honestly think that her/her team are focusing on her cracking the US market. There are much smaller, way less known (Primadonna was a bit of hit down here) bands that still tour down her. Fricken Azelia Banks is down here right now and I swear I don't know one bitch in real life who knows who she is.

But in revenge Lana toured here but still hasn't toured the US. *shrugs*

She has a ton of Australian fans that are pissed that she won't come there. Like I said, it is expensive and it's not like she has Katy Perry money to go there :/. And she keeps canceling European dates to do US dates and she's really pissing fans off :/

i legit thot 'family jewels' was the sequel to 'electra heart' because it sounded so much more mature. i guess she's rly taking the more pop route, which i don't mind, but i hope her next album wld be a bit better than 'electra heart'.

also i wld like to be married to her plzkthx.

There's a reason why Electra Heart is more poppy and sell-out-ish. It's been done intentionally so you may want to read up on her concept for the album and about the archetypes she created.

i didn't buy her CD so i'm not rly familiar with it. i know it was based on the archetypes of women in american culture, but not much else.

"Electra Heart" was meant to be a side-project but her label wouldn't let her release it under another name so she changed her looks and live persona to actually look like another person, but I think that era is over and now she'll go back to doing more Family Jewel-ish stuff. At least that's what I think, then idk maybe she'll sound a bit more electro-pop now? Idk idk I'm just theorizing.

Ugh, of course Glee would ruin one of her songs sooner or later. I get so butthurt about it because Glee used to be a good show, music and all, and now even the songs sound like utter crap. Disappointed.

I think it's great for Marina because it'll give her exposure and drive her record sales but I don't like the people singing it.
