your last sentence is exactly why so many child stars (usually actors/actresses but in her case singers too) end up with addictions by their 20's :(

Seriously, I mean, I've never done drugs and I rarely drink but just thinking about that situation, I can picture myself at the very least becoming a booze-hound. Child stars should be required to enroll in those workshops where you take classes for 6 weeks at a time for different stuff like cooking, pottery, music lessons just so they are forced to get hobbies to give them something to do while not working instead of drugs/alcohol.
