Kelly Osbourne Hospitalized After Seizure

Kelly Osbourne was just rushed to an L.A. hospital after suffering a seizure while taping her show "Fashion Police."

An ambulance rushed to the scene and Kelly was taken away by stretcher. People held up white sheets to shield her from the media and a white sheet was covering her entire body, including her face.

Kelly was sitting in a chair, shooting the show in front of a full studio audience. Melissa Rivers was sitting next to her, filling in for Giuliana Rancic. Kelly turned to Melissa and said, "I don't feel good," and then she fell out of the chair and started shaking. Melissa then turned Kelly's head to help her. Someone from the audience -- some kind of emergency responder -- then ran up and helped.

Kelly came around a few moments later, but her handlers wanted to have her hospitalized anyway.

The incident occurred at the E! building on Wilshire Blvd., just before noon.

We do not know what triggered the episode. As for her condition, it's unknown, but Joan Rivers -- who was also present on set when Kelly suffered the seizure -- tells TMZ, "She is fine. We just saw her."

Is a seizure a sign/symptom of an ED?

I understand your point, but at the same time she's the one on national television tearing women down for something as stupid as a dress. I don't have much sympathy for how she chooses to use her fame as someone who went through some dark times. Why Kelly, why!??
kwikimart 7th-Mar-2013 10:07 pm (UTC)
according to my housemate yes

She judges me HARD for being on ONTD

scary. i hope she's okay

i freaking hate seizures. i've had several now and they are so random and so far i have no explaination why. everything comes back normal. it's been a few years but i'm always afraid they are going to strike up again out of nowhere.
vehiclesshockme 7th-Mar-2013 09:33 pm (UTC)
Have you ever had an EEG or seen a neurologist?

Edited at 2013-03-07 09:33 pm (UTC)
pickledprose 7th-Mar-2013 09:48 pm (UTC)
yeah. they didn't really show anything. and they happen years apart so it's kinda like, how do you diagnose that when you have one and then no problems for years and then have another one and then nothing. i had febrile seizures when i was a baby and the ones i've had as an adolescent/adult where either when i was sick or in an extremely stressful situation.

i saw one of your other comments that said you were epileptic, have you ever had problems with sleep paralysis or narcolepsy?
lostmymindagain 7th-Mar-2013 09:39 pm (UTC)
Yeah, you should get on some medication, girlfriend, or at least talk to a neurologist/epileptologist. I managed to find an epileptologist and it was the best thing that has happened to me in a while. I changed medications (had been on anti-seizure meds for something "unrelated" from childhood that wasn't really explained to me when I was 7 years old...), and I am doing great now.
buncha_cruncha 7th-Mar-2013 09:44 pm (UTC)
Are you seeing a neurologist? If not, GO. You won't regret it.

I've had seizures for years, always in my sleep, once or twice a month, sometimes more. I was afraid to go to the neurologist for a long time. I went when I was younger, but the medication they put me on caused me to be basically a walking zombie. I couldn't function on it. I thought it was better to deal with the seizures than that.

Anyway, one night last year, I had a really bad one, and my fiance made me go to the emergency room. I finally went to the neuro and he put me on Lamictal, and I've been seizure-free for 10 months. It's AMAZING. My brain is clearer, my memory has improved, and I don't have to be scared anymore every time I go to sleep.
vanilla_blue 8th-Mar-2013 03:56 am (UTC)
same thing happened to my twin brother, but he so far has only had one seizure. the doctors couldn't explain it either.
vacatia 8th-Mar-2013 05:07 pm (UTC)
My friend has epilepsy and has only had one seizure in her lifetime.

*Edit* one REAL seizure. Before that her 'seizures' were little blips ie. blinking and dropping a coffee cup.

I haven't had one in years either but in middle school for some reason I had a whole bunch over like 3 years at random for no reason. IDK what was up but I am SO SCARED that I'll suddenly start again.

I hope neither of us have any more :(

muzicnem 7th-Mar-2013 09:21 pm (UTC)
Scary, hope she's doing okay. I just think it's weird that just anyone could seize, like you don't have to have a condition like epilepsy to do so...you just have to somehow cross that threshold.
frosting 7th-Mar-2013 09:27 pm (UTC)
my mom teaches special ed and had never seized, but out of nowhere her fists closed and she felt her neck going to one side. luckily the other teachers in the room noticed and caught her as she dropped. really scary and random.
kalie_m 7th-Mar-2013 09:31 pm (UTC)
mte. I don't understand how they can just happen once totally out of the blue like that. So scary.
queen_norleans 7th-Mar-2013 09:32 pm (UTC)
Happened to me one time because I had been abusing Ativan but didn't realize I had a problem. Next thing I knew I was being carried out of Mohegan Sun and loaded into an ambulance. Totally scary.
elvenqueen86 7th-Mar-2013 09:42 pm (UTC)
My SO has had two that I've seen, they never found anything wrong, but they were scary as fuck to witness. Both times he had a sip of a really cold drink and then just started seizing, and didn't remember it happening after. His mom said it happened to him a few times when he was a kid too.
sprywonderdog 7th-Mar-2013 10:03 pm (UTC)
I learned that have flicker vertigo by nearly having seizures a few times. The first time was really scary. I was in a screened in area with a ceiling fan that was causing a strobe effect from the sunlight. Looking up at it, I feel backwards and my eyes started to roll back in my head, then I just came out of it. It happens all the time when I'm driving and the sun is setting behind trees. I'll have to pull over or I'm scared I will crash.
ilovedogs 8th-Mar-2013 01:53 am (UTC)
WHOA!!! I hope you are okay under those damn fluorescent lights that are everywhere. I hate those. Most people think they do not strobe, but damn, they do.

Do you ever get kinda wonky from too many animated usericons? (i do, not trying to be snarky or anything)

Ikr I'm so scared! :S
boomstick 7th-Mar-2013 10:30 pm (UTC)
Yep, a friend of mine had a seizure for no reason. His mom thought the call from the hospital was a prank because he has zero history of any sort of issues.
lowlighter 7th-Mar-2013 11:24 pm (UTC)
My mom had a seizure one night out of the blue - granted she was just finishing up chemo/radiation treatments and eating/drinking wasn't one of her strong suits (she had tonsil cancer, radiation made it super difficult to eat/drink much). Her electrolytes/potassium was/were all out of whack so we think that's what did it.

She couldn't talk or anything in between her seizures, it was terrifying to watch :-/ she didn't remember much of anything from that night. Hopefully Kelly's okay and it's not something serious though.
