In Noah Baumbach’s Greenberg, Ben Stiller played a depressed and embittered never-was rocker whose life had stalled. It’s a theme that the New York auteur revisits in Frances Ha, his upcoming black-and-white film that stars Stiller’s Greenberg co-star Greta Gerwig. Baumbach and Gerwig co-wrote the script, which tells the story of a 27-year-old aspiring dancer in Brooklyn whose life has failed to take off since graduating from Vassar. She’s still stuck in Girls mode, clinging to a girlfriend (Mickey Sumner) and career aspirations that drift further away with every false step. (Even Adam Driver has a supporting role!)
The minimalist looking film, shot by Wendy & Lucy cinematographer Sam Levy, debuted at last September’s Telluride Film Festival and is currently screening at the Berlin International Film Festival.

So this is being compared to ONTD favourite Girls. Make of that what you will.

no it was good, wasn't a masterpiece but it felt like a really honest portrayal of a breakup & the stuff that happens afterwards- it was sad & messy & sincere- the cinematography was nice too, DUMBO is such a beautiful area, the movie made NYC look really beautiful in a way i haven't seen in a while too
i watched in on a plan and it was so bad. i hate her as an actress
And can this not be in black and white.
I really liked Margot for Nicole, but couldn't make it through Greenberg at all.
Looks like it'd be a nice, breezy movie to watch. The black and white looks dull. They need to take cues from Woody Allen or John Cassavetes.
I don't know what the plot is supposed to be like, but the only thing that I could focus on in the trailer was how she's supposed to be a dancer but doesn't seem to dance very well. A good case for a body double.
"[It's] a love story about girls. It’s a girl who’s in love with her best friend, but not sexually. It’s sort of that moment when you realise, 'Oh, so we won’t all move in together,' and you’re going to move on with your life," Gerwig said adding, "I’m really proud of it. I think it’s really good."
Although the trailer makes it seem more like it's about a woman having a quarter life crisis.
