The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon?

That’s what sources are telling The Hollywood Reporter will happen in 2014.

Next season will be Jay Leno‘s last as host of The Tonight Show, the sources have told the Hollywood trade paper. They add that Fallon — who now follows Leno with his Late Night with Jimmy Fallon — will inherit the coveted Tonight Show hosting gig.

Although NBC reps have denied that the end is near for Leno, The Reporter’s sources insist that the peacock net will announce the change during the May upfronts, setting the stage for selling the last season of Leno to advertisers at a premium.

“We do not speculate on rumor,” a Leno rep said.

Still a rumor but I am crying at the possibility

idk the tonight show is still a big deal because it's in the earlier time slot. i'm just excited for jimmy because if this is true, he's moving on up. who knows if it'll flop? i do not especially like this decision because i love jimmy at 12:37 and in nyc but whateva
iheartfamke 3rd-Mar-2013 01:18 am (UTC)
Sorry but if Conan was flopping in that time slot, Jimmy has no chance in hell imo.
bungalowtick 3rd-Mar-2013 12:47 am (UTC)
i don't think he even wants to. i remember him being asked about it once and he was like "high school/college kids watch my show. that's where i'm in my element."

pindycindy 3rd-Mar-2013 03:01 am (UTC)
He's never gonna fucking retire, why should he?? I read somewhere that he lives off his stand up money. That means the millions he has gotten from NBC just sits there....... to be that fucking rich. fml
forgethissmile 3rd-Mar-2013 03:59 am (UTC)
I laugh anytime I hear about NBC's misfortunes purely because of how they mishandled that shit.

xgirldc 3rd-Mar-2013 12:36 am (UTC)
jay leno sucks. he should have been out a long long time ago. he's never been funny in the slightest.

conan is awesome. jimmy is awesome.

if you are jimmy's people, how do you ensure the same thing doesn't happen to him as conan?
distant_lines 3rd-Mar-2013 12:54 am (UTC)
Have Jay Leno offed?
yeahwell_britt 3rd-Mar-2013 01:28 am (UTC)
ugh, tonight show w/ conan followed by late night w/ fallon would've been perfect.
emofordino 3rd-Mar-2013 01:43 am (UTC)
weeping for this failed opportunity tbh
jrs1980 3rd-Mar-2013 06:57 pm (UTC)
There were some jaw-dropping things in Coco's Tonight Show contract, it's all detailed in Bill Carter's "The War for Late Night". Like, they didn't promise him the timeslot.
scarletfbl 3rd-Mar-2013 12:36 am (UTC)
One unfunny host replacing another? Makes sense.

justrachna 3rd-Mar-2013 12:37 am (UTC)
so stupid big-chin decides to leave now? how about two years ago when he screwed conan over? if i were conan i would be so fucking pissed. what a tool. jimmy fallon isn't ready for the tonight show, he's good where he is
justrachna 3rd-Mar-2013 12:58 am (UTC)
the tonight show is legendary and the first one of the night, it's a bigger deal than the later one. you have to appeal to a wider audience. leno has kind of ruined the tonight show, but in it's heyday it was pretty legendary and cutting edge
forgethissmile 3rd-Mar-2013 04:01 am (UTC)
Going off what the first commenter said, The Tonight Show is *the* first late night show. This was Johnny Carson's baby. So it has even more pressure on it than any other show in that timeslot because of it.
