As a woman from Iran, I can tell you that it's greatly misogynistic. Women in Iran have no say in what they wear (aside from many other rights that have been taken away from them). They are forced into Islamic clothing and pressured by the government to follow or be condemned. I don't think I've ever met a Persian woman who doesn't feel that way.
