private school. most christian/fundie schools have an honor code you have to follow

but just because it's private doesn't mean they don't have to adhere to discriminatory laws....do they have discrimination laws in the us lol? i just imagine everybody being like no free speech we can say what we want.

There really are no outright discrimination laws for the us as a whole; it's state by state.
I don't agree with it, but no one forced them go to a school with an honor code like that.

Non-discrimination laws for lgbt are lacking in many areas. The study The State of Higher Education for LGBT has some sad and scary findings:

In fact, the majority of the nearly 4,500 colleges and universities in the United States do not consider the needs of LGBT people on campus where only 13 percent and 6 percent offer non-discrimination protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity, respectively.

It fucking sucks tbh. I'm extra bitter bc I'm Canadian and my parents moved us here when we were kids bc apparently Canada is too librul~ fml. And it's too expensive to move back. FUCK
