Aldis Hodge has been cast in NBC’s drama pilot The Sixth Gun, an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name. Produced by Carlton Cuse, written by Ryan Condal and directed by Jeffrey Reiner, The Sixth Gun is described as a supernatural Western which follows the story of six mythical guns, each with its own other-worldly powers.
Hodge, who joins W. Earl Brown (Deadwood), and Graham McTavish (The Hobbit) in the project, will play a Agent Mercer, a private investigator looking for the missing guns. He was last seen on TNT's now-canceled series Leverage, last year.
JB Smoove has been cast opposite Will Arnett in CBS‘ yet-to-be-titled comedy pilot from Greg Garcia, which centers on Jack (Arnett), a recently divorced man whose life is further complicated with his parents own marital problems. Smoove has signed up to play a character named Deweyne, said to be Jack’s best friend.
Currently, you can find Mr Smoove on BET's hit faux reality series Real Husbands of Hollywood. He was also recently cast in Larry David's HBO movie, Clear History.
Larenz Tate will co-star alongside funnyman/actor Craig Robinson in his upcoming pilot sold to NBC by The Office executive producer Greg Daniels - a yet-to-be-titled sale penned by Owen Ellickson (supervising producer for The Office). The project will follow a talented musician (played by Robinson) with rough edges, who adjusts to his new life as a music teacher in a big-city middle school, where he encounters teacher politics and the temptations of single moms.
Larenz Tate will play Kevin, Craig's brother and partner in the duo's band called The Filthy Gentleman. Further, Kevin is described as a charismatic lady-killer who has never held a regular job, thanks to his musical talents, and who thinks Craig's dedication to his students is a waste of time.
If the pilot works for NBC, we just might be seeing another black-led series on NBC next season.
