Genuinely disappointed at people not knowing who Little Edie was. What the hell. Nothing will beat the season two game. Anyway time for Untucked!
Who went home on RuPaul's Drag Race?

if someone is racially white, as roxxxy is, and portraying themselves as a black person, it is blackface. simple as.
Roxxxy was concentrated purely on Tamar's mannerisms and expressions. Nothing about her getup or act was made with a concentration on being black.
why do you think we see this as a problem:
http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/75
look, even though roxxxy is ethnically a minority (which i was unaware of, btw), he still has white privilege. there are many countries throughout latin america where whiteness is idealized -- the lighter your skin, the prettier you are. blame colonization, sure, but it's how it is and non-white latinos face the same discrimination as in any other country.
so yes, i think it's problematic that roxxxy is painting himself three shades darker and copying the mannerisms of a woman of color.
You don't need to try and explain skin tone importance and privilege to me, I'm more than well aware of how that works in Latin America and in hispanic and spanish-speaking cultures around the world.
What you're not recognizing is the fact that Roxxxy naturally looks what you think is "three shades darker" when she gets some sunlight, and I've shown you photographic proof of that. Her mannerisms and expressions were not stereotypical of a woman of color, they were based off of Tamar's character (for christ's sake, she dropped that "get yo life" line like three times). I'd even say that Roxxxy wasn't even acting very differently than she usually does at other times. She was not in blackface tonight whatsoever, not physically or characteristically, and she was especially not on the level of racial insensitivity as seen in the examples you're trying to throw at me.
you want to hold onto this irrational anger of yours so bad lol. just let it go!
What fight are you fighting for here?
you talk about hispanic still 'being white'
and then you say that mikeblitzz is confusing ethnicity with race?
you can't possibly know Roxxxy's racial heritage, most latin americans are so mixed that they started referring to themselves as mestizos because most don't belong to any one group exactly. Plus, a lot of governments in the early 20th century fomented nationalistic sentiment by uniting the citizenry under the identity of 'mestizos.' As such, no matter what the color of their skin (pale to black), most latin americans will say that they are mestizos and are completely oblivious to their true racial background.
Yeah there was a large white migration to some countries in postcolonial times--creating majority white countries like Argentina, Chile and Uruguay--but most of their descendants have intermarried with the previous inhabitants. There aren't that many 100% white people in Latin America. The same process holds true for most of the descendants of black slaves brought to the continent during colonial times. Those not in remote settlements pretty quickly assimilated with the various racial groups already there. Now in countries like Peru and Mexico most people are completely unaware of the contribution that African slaves had on their 'Latin' culture, and even refute the possibility that they could well have black forebears.
