Anne Hathaway’s Awful Acceptance Speeches: An Annoying Look Back


Anne Hathaway has been everywhere this year for her award winning performance in Les Miserables — and it has been awful. For someone who is so talented and so aware she is going to win every award she is nominated for, this girl has been giving acceptance speeches that are getting worse and worse. And then, somehow, even worse.

So before she makes what will no doubt be the most painful speech of tomorrow’s Oscars, let’s take a look back at all these grating moments below. Just make sure you have a drink handy.

I love Anne, but I was feeling a rush of secondhand embarrassment all throughout this award season from her speeches. She sounded too rehearsed and staged, even though she probably meant to come off genuine.

I have always disliked Anne Hathaway because she is the textbook definition of beige. But all this hate she's been receiving lately has been ridiculous. People are just pulling shit out of their asses now. "OMG She corrected her own name at an award show that was too arsed to spell it right?? What a bitch!!" Really? rme

THIS. I mean this is exactly how I feel about the entire thing. She is just the second coming of Julia Roberts for me, but the hate is just massive compared to her actual level of beige.

She reminds me of the girl in my Elementary choir class that thought she was the best singer on the planet but in truth sounded like a dying humpback whale on drugs

When she went up, one of my guy friends was like, "Thankfully we have her nipples to look at so we don't have to listen to this terrible speech."

Ooookay... I don't hate Anne, and I don't GET the Anne hate. I don't see how people at the shows hated her (OP's probably reaching a bit there), but at the same time, I REALLY did not care for any of her acceptance speeches. They were too forced and dramatic.

I thought the It came true was kinda cheesy but my main problem was def the hair and dres OMG

and I didn't really care for her winning but it was def more deserved than JLaws

the only really cheesy part of the speech was the "it came true" bit. the rest of it was okay.

This post is spot on. I always liked her but she was so annoying throughout this. She's an actress, she could have tried harder to pretend she didn't want it so much.

I cringed at the 'it came true' part but I thought the rest of it was okay.
I don't get the hate. There were way worse speeches, like Tarantino's IMO.

jfc some of the comments here. what's wrong with showing how much she wants the award? it's a fricking oscar.
