It's just ridiculous.

Al Pacino is the best fucking actor out there. The only one who keeps fighting and doesn't give up. The only one who keeps doing theatre because he loves acting and he's not as well respected as fuckign De Niro. It makes me so mad.

ugh i hate it when people compare de niro and pacino. they're really different and both amazing. :(
goddlesssinner 25th-Feb-2013 02:09 pm (UTC)
Yep but for some reason people like to put De Niro on a pedestal
poisoned_summer 25th-Feb-2013 02:05 pm (UTC)
k lets not pretend pacino hasn't done his fair share of shitty movies in the last decade or so. him and de niro are shades of the actors they used to be
goddlesssinner 25th-Feb-2013 02:08 pm (UTC)
Absolutely but he at least tries though! Besides, for every paycheck movie Pacino does, he does a play or a great work in HBO.

Absolutely. My god, he was a magnificent Roy Cohn in Angels In America, and equally great as Dr. Kevorkian.

You sound like a Greco-Roman epic rn and I love it.

Pretty sure if you keep giving him Tony Montana and Arthur Kirkland he'll be exactly the actor you remember him to be.

I need an Al icon. The other day I saw Looking For Richard and OMG he's SO charming! People never give him credit for being charming

I loved that documentary! I love how passionate he is about Shakespeare

Also, all the Chastain stans here would have nobody to stan for if it wasn't for him, he was the one who recommended her to Malick for Tree of Life.

I agree that Al Pacino has been criminally overlooked by the Academy. His performance in the Godfather films is one of the greatest performances ever given by an American actor. Dog Day Afternoon was just tremendous. And Finding Richard is one of the best films about actors and acting ever made.

But that's the Academy's fault, not Waltz's. I really don't think Weinstein had anything to do with his win. The Academy just happens to adore Christoph Waltz. Plus it's not as though any of the nominees were lacking in Oscars.

BTW, I couldn't agree with you more that it's disgusting that de Niro has been recognized by the Academy and Pacino hasn't. I've always thought de Niro was terribly overrated. He doesn't even come close to Al Pacino.

THIS WHOLE COMMENT!!!!!!!

I agree about Christoph. I think he was great but his was a co-lead, not a supporting part. I think Winstein got him SNL.

De Niro has shown in the last decade why Pacino is better, tbh. If a man keeps doing Shakespeare at his age, that's just a major win. Besides, he acts for the joy of it,. as soon as De Niro got an offer from Hollywood, he stopped doing theater
