And just like that, Jennifer Lawrence is immortalized -- goofily! -- in Oscar history. The 22-year-old star won the Best Actress Academy Award inside the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Feb. 24. Ascending the Oscars stage in a stunning pale Dior Haute Couture gown, Lawrence suffered every actress' nightmare: She face-planted! Tripping on her sizable frock, the blonde fell down on the steps, and was quickly helped up.
Getting a standing ovation from some in the crowd, Lawrence quickly acknowledged the pratfall. "You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell -- it's really embarrassing. This is nuts!"
Accepting her Oscar from The Artist's Jean Dujardin, Lawrence then acknowledged her competition: Zero Dark Thirty's Jessica Chastain, The Impossible's Naomi Watts, Amour's Emmanuelle Riva, and Beasts of the Southern Wild's Quvenzhane Wallis. "You were so magnificent, and it's been so amazing getting to know you," Lawrence said, "You've made this experience unforgettable."
Thanking her family and other colleagues, she then wished a happy birthday to French actress Riva, whose 86th birthday fell on Oscar Sunday.

seriously, that was the most predictable event all night. Love her to death and her speech was qt, but I'm annoyed she won for that particular movie/role. I dislike the idea that we're again encouraging DOL's writing of ~crazy~ women. However, Harvey's dark magic failed; that's the only thing SLP won!
You know it's from a BOOK right? And she does actually have a mental illness? And she was equally as 'crazy' in the book?
i'm only guessing, though.
idc i'm bitter about this
Whatever tho, that's life
easily
i'm not angry over it tho
French people are kinda salty about this too, mostly cause they thought her performance was better and the fact that Riva's 86 to JLaw's 22...
Ugh I wish Riva had won, since she probably will not get another chance and I feel like this trip to America might have felt like a bit of wasted time for her, while JLaw still has plenty of opportunities to win oscars. But I did like that she wished Emmanuelle a happy birthday.
JLaw is twenty fucking two. Were they that scared she'll never get nominated again? Over this "It Girl" thing.
She's not particularly interesting or clever or unique she just talks/acts like the average non-famous person.
Well I think the fact that she has a sense of humour about herself helps too tho.
edit: agreed with your last sentence

People saying how she's trying so hard need to look back on her old interviews.

she's an inspiration to us all
and i will never have as much money as her
I want her life because I don't want student loans and want to live alone so I get that tbh!
that is something to be jealous and envious of ... shit
i don't really understand how you don't think it's a big deal. it's winning the most prestigious award you can get for your profession when most people are still in school
ya'll are so ridiculous
Go, you.
