Pretty much everything hearxmexrawr said. My mom grew up in a trailer park and my dad grew up a little wealthier than that. They both worked hard as fuck. My dad makes me feel so lazy because he went to work, then straight to class, then back to work. He paid his way through college and managed to get straight As. You need dedication.

my dad. he was poor as fucking hell as a kid in mexico. He came to the US, started working and eventually became the owner of a business that he started out as an employee making minimum wage. He's also bought up real estate over the years so that really helps too. I have to mention that he is also a jack of all trades so he knows how to do damn near everything, fix cars, build houses etc. But he's also not the nicest man either..so like most capitalist success stories it seems that the most successful aren't always the nicest either.

ETA. He has no formal education from here or MX. He did get a certification from a community college on A/C repair but that's it.

Yes my mom was poor she lived in a 2 bedroom house with her parents and 6 other brothers, she went to public school, end up in first place and then majored in mining engineering. Shes doing pretty well right now and runs her own mines (she has four). She worked super hard and never rested and she always tells me the key is to keep studying and learning stuff about your field.

yeah my parents. dad grew up wealthy in vietnam and had everything taken away. Came to the US with nothing in his pocket. He loved to learn so he knew a little english coming here and got odd jobs to support his brothers. eventually went to a community college, then went to state college. He almost graduated but he needed money for the family more.

Worked hard. Saved everything. And now he has his own business, drives a nice car and enjoys life. My mom's the same too.

My parents! Especially my dad, who grew up in the projects in Hong Kong. I'd say school was the main factor--they both got into HK's top university. After immigrating to the US my dad went to b-school, followed the American Dream~, now they're living pretty decent lives in the 'burbs, etc.

My brother-in-law's dad wasn't anything more than middle class in his youth (far as I know anyway, doesn't sound like he was) and he played the stock market and now owns a gated community house with a private beach in the backyard and shit like that. 8|

My mom went from less than wealthy means to being upper middle class but I'm not sure how she did it. She worked through college (did the smart thing and got her pre-reqs done at a community college before transferring to a 4 year) and as soon as she graduated she joined the Navy Nurse Corp and worked her way up through the ranks. Retired, went back and got her MSN and is now a nurse practitioner, which is a lucrative job.

Mostly she was just very smart and sometimes thrifty with money. My grandparents were very (very, very) poor managers of money and she was determined to never be like them.

My mom was really poor growing up. She was in an abuse relationship, got pregnant at 22, moved away and moved to this area and worked her ass off to afford a better life for my sister. She had many jobs but eventually got a good one and worked there for 30+ years. My dad grew up middle class but still didn't have much. He's had a job since he was 15 and had two when I was growing up.

My dad grew up poor in a rough part of a rough town (3 bedroom home for his parents and their ten kids, lots of crime etc) and he became successful by getting a scholarship to a nice school, getting really good grades at school and then getting another schloarship to do medicine at university, and today we are all firmly middle class and live in a really nice part of a big city.

omg thank you. it's hard enough checking my tumblr as is without fifteen supernatural fans liveblogging every other minute of the show. Literally half a page is liveblogging and one or two posts from other people. It drives me insane and I can't unfollow because I usually like whatever else they post.

UGH I KNOW, it pisses me off too. I mean it takes so much more time too, than livetweeting. Especially now with the changes on tumblr, why would you put all that effort? It's ridiculous, leave it to twitter.

Ugh, I almost quit tumblr because of an annoying twerp who was confusing tumblr with facebook and posting stupid hoaxes all the time. I had enough whith the post with a photo of a battered child and a fake story which I found on snopes within two minutes. When I wrote to them (politely) to cut it out, they got snippy and told me to unfollow them...

Liveblogging is so annoying when most of the posts are like OMG!! It's like, no one gives a shit.
