J.J. Abrams confirms that 'Star Trek Into Darkness' will feature Klingons

We still don't know exactly who Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in the upcoming sequel "Star Trek Into Darkness," but J.J. Abrams has revealed that, whether he's Khan or not, the actor won't be the film's only villain.

The director confirmed that the beloved Klingons will appear in the film to terrorize Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine) and the Enterprise crew.

"Their role in this is definitely that of adversary, and you'll see how that plays out," he told MTV.

The Klingons began as a purely villainous race in the original series, but grew into Federation allies during laters series such as "The Next Generation" and "Deep Space Nine," but Abrams isn't counting on new viewers to have absorbed all that previous lore. "You don't need to know any preexisting stories to enjoy this film," the director explained.

I'm fine with Klingons on a screen but like cosplay Klingons freak me out for some reason. They're just way to intense.

lol they like to speak klingon, which on one hand is cool and on the other hand is really...dedicated.

And everything sounds so fucking angry in Klingon too. It's like my mom used to tell me about how she hated visiting her great-grandpa when she was little because he spoke very little English and mostly spoke German so he would say things like, "It's so great to see you again my beautiful princess!" but it just sounded like angry yelling and she would burst into tears. That's how I feel about Klingon.

The non-English and non-German-speaking consensus is that English and German sound the same D:
p. much everything IS angry in Klingon, by the by. Like their 'hello' is translated to 'what do you want?'

lol I used to be able to speak Klingon. Others can only dream of such nerdery.

I don't have to dream of it.... My parents are multi-lingual in Spanish, Klingon, Vulcan and Bajoran. My mother also is fluent in Quenya and Sindarin. I've rebelled by teaching myself Welsh because just no... I'm not doing that shit even though, I'll admit I do have a desire to learn the elven languages.

So many of them are so big too and tall people freak me out to begin with so I just can't deal.
yurasama_love 22nd-Feb-2013 05:04 am (UTC)
Awww, that's too bad.
corroded_tears 22nd-Feb-2013 06:05 am (UTC)
Yeah but it's hard to think of that when it's your fucking dad.
