Or, you know, flashback scenes.
Either two things; Mrs Hale married Derek's father after his birth mother left or something and they never told Derek OR OR OR OR after the fire, the Alpha's rescued Derek's mom and lied to her about everything, and sic her on the new wolves for revenge, so she can take back Hale territory
