The studio wanted the film to be in contention for this years Oscars (they wanted to push Franco for Best Supporting Actor). When they realized that it wasn't going to happen they pushed the release WAY back to after award season. They want to get maximum exposure (which i think was a better idea in the long run - I dont think this film would have a had a chance during this award season)

Just Franco's performance lmao. They realized that it wasn't worth it in the end. Glad they came to their senses lmao.

It was always going to be a March 2013 release. From the articles I read, what they wanted to do was have a limited release in 2012 so James would be eligible ( i think you need to open it in a minimum amount of theatres?) and then nationwide the following year in March but that never happened anyway so yeah lol
