Because of the (uncredited, permission-less) sample he used in the song where someone says "do the Harlem Shake".

and yet he wants to come at azealia for using the beat w/o permission

Omg don't even get me started on that shit. Azealia has been pissing me off lately, but I was definitely on her side with that one.

There is literally not a post you don't bring up something racially charged when it's not.

lol white ppl are so dense
jbants 20th-Feb-2013 11:31 pm (UTC)
Except that I'm of mixed race ya ignorant bitch. Not fucking everything is about race, for the love of christ. Take this tired ass argument with you while you take a seat.

A lot of things are about race, though. A lot more than the average person is even capable of realizing. And when that gets dismissed as nothing, an opportunity for progress is lost.
skyslife 21st-Feb-2013 07:11 am (UTC)
How can you claim that it's an "opportunity for progress" when all that seems to happen is calling white people "dense" or "dumb" or "racist"? All it turns out to be is just another form of racism.
__likeamagazine 21st-Feb-2013 07:43 am (UTC)
I don't think the "dense" comment was productive, but the one about white entitlement was. Though I wasn't referring to either of those and was speaking directly about the dismissive attitude the person I replied to had about this being a race-related issue.

Also, calling someone racist is not the same as calling them dense or dumb. Racist acts need to be called by name, even if it makes someone feel bad. Hopefully they'll take those bad feelings to heart and not say/do things that are racist anymore. But the offensive behavior can't change if it gets pussyfooted around, or worse never mentioned. It's not the job of of POC to protect the feelings of people who are being racist, that is ludicrous.

And one more thing, calling out white privilege and being upset at people who exhibit it is NOT racist. It's a reaction to racism. And racism is big enough and important enough that it can't always be a friendly, polite conversation. So while it may make you feel bad to hear white people referred to as dense, again, it's not the job of POC to hold your hand and coddle you while you come to the understanding of all the advantages your skin color affords you—including the inability to understand or empathize with actual racism. Even if someone outright hates you just because you're white, it in no way compares to the institutionalized racism that affects every facet of life for a person of color. Because real racism doesn't even happen on a person versus person level, it happens in the form of a bank, a school, a law, a goverment versus a group of people. And unless there comes a time in this country where massive, pervasive race-based subjugation of white people happens, comparing individual disdainful treatment of whites to treatment of POC is ridiculous joke that could only be made by an ignorant person.
