Beyoncé Dropped 60-lb. of Baby Weight with Partially Vegan Diet

Untitled

Singer Beyonce Knowles lost 57 pounds just six months after giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012, and has kept it off by following a partially vegan diet.

"[Beyonce eats] one vegan meal a day because this typically gets people to eat more greens than they normally would," her trainer, Marco Borges, told Life & Style, "If you have to snack, don't sacrifice nutrition."

Instead of grabbing chips or candy, Beyonce snacks on edamame, a green apple, or cucumbers sprinkled with vinegar, cayenne pepper and lemon. When the Grammy winner wants to shed weight fast, she substitutes a protein shake for lunch instead of having a full meal.

Knowles, who wowed fans with her super-fit physique during her Super Bowl half-time performance, wore multiple layers of pantyhose to achieve her sleek look.

"Under the fishnets, she wore four to six pairs of pantyhose to pull her all in," says a source. "She is very aware of her body. She knows what looks right and what doesn't."

In addition to a healthy, portion-controlled diet, Beyonce also works out almost daily to maintain her sexy bikini body.

"Consistency is the key to success," says her trainer. "I love running sprint intervals for quick cardio sessions and running stairs."

"one vegan meal a day" - isn't this normal? for a lot of people? i mean i consider myself to be "partially vegan" because i will eat something like a single cookie made with butter and eggs like once every few months.

yeah but there are tons of people who will have a dairy-free smoothie for breakfast, or apple and peanut butter for lunch, or even just a salad with balsamic vinaigrette and pasta with plain marinara sauce. those are normal meals for people to eat. it's not totally abnormal for people to eat vegan meals without thinking twice about it. plus i think some people are eating such artificial crap that they're eating vegan food and don't realize it.

IDK. I feel like I know a number of "meat and potatoes" type people for whom it's not normal. :/

ikr, I didn't realize there are people that eat meat during every meal daily tbh

It's not just meat, animal-by-products too.

I think most American's diets include meat or, at the least, animal by-product in every meal.

I think it's extremely normal. And that seems to be the majority sentiment in this post.

But I remember every time a real vegan post pops up on ONTD and someone mentions going to a vegan wedding, people are OUTRAGED that they are forced to eat according to someone else's diet, and think it's not fair to ask someone to attend your wedding if you aren't going to serve "real food." So despite the rolled eyes expressed in this post, I think there are a fair number of people who think that food isn't a meal without meat.

Ikr I don't really eat meat in every single meal.
generalstolas 19th-Feb-2013 10:24 pm (UTC)
I don't do the one vegan meal a day thing, but that's mostly because I tend to eat only one meal a day. Unhealthy I know, but that's just the habit I've fallen into for the past few years.

Growing up I would always get side-eye during lent because for some bizarre reason, being Byzantine Catholic means I have to be vegan on Fridays and do no meat on Wednesdays. IDK man. I don't follow that anymore.

It's definitely not normal. Even if most people could conceive of a meal with no meat, one with no animal product at all is probably unheard of.

I guess it depends on who you surround yourself with. I mean, it's not normal at all with people I know. There's generally at least one animal-by-product in their meals. I'm odd and pay attention to that stuff. Lol.
