Kate Upton’s Trainer Defends Her ‘Porky’ Body

Celebrity trainer David Kirsch is known for lifting, firming, and toning some of the best bodies that appear on the runway, silver screen, and glossy magazine covers. Heidi Klum's flat stomach? Kirsch-ed. Karolina Kurkova's lifted tush? Kirsch-ed. Liv Tyler's everything? Kirsch-ed. The latest addition to the Manhattan-based, nutrition-obsessed trainer's collection of toned clients is none other than Kate Upton, two-time cover girl of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and owner of the most enviable set of boobs we've seen, ever. The two first started working together in August out of Kirsch's Madison Square Club when she wanted some basic body maintenance, and things went into overdrive once it started to get closer to the arctic photo shoot. "I made it very clear to her, I love her curves and I wasn't going to do anything to [make her] skinnier," said the body-conscious Kirsch. "It was about toning her legs, butt, abs, arms, and to really dial into the diet."

I have 15 lbs. to lose before Bonnaroo in June. Weight Watchers and running mofos. I just started running again yesterday...have/had a knee injury so I have to start back with 5 min. at a time. FML.

I'm thinking about joining WW. Its currently under 60 for 3 months which doesn't sound too bad. Thoughts on it?
champagnexdream 19th-Feb-2013 08:11 pm (UTC)
Under $60 for three months? Does that include the meetings or just the eTools?

I've done WW off and on for years and it's the only thing that works for me tbh because it doesn't eliminate ANYTHING. Guides you toward making the right choices. Kind of like training wheels for how you're supposed to eat forever, which is why I love it.

Myfitnesspal.com is awesome and its free. Been using it for 8 months and I learned so much from the message boards. I hit my weight goal and building up amazing strength

She is not fat, but I am not a fan of her body (I prefer fit, lightly-muscled, etc), so I am quite surprised that she is a thing. (I'm really skinny but flabby and so I guess I just find it unattractive)

I don't think we should body-shame her, though. There ain't nothing wrong with being flabby. I do think her fame is due to her MASSIVELY LARGE BREASTS, though.
disclosure 19th-Feb-2013 08:11 pm (UTC)
Agreed on all accounts.

Also my fav workout is weight lifting but I force myself to do HIIT too. I like yin yoga to de-stress and work on flexibility
elstree 19th-Feb-2013 07:58 pm (UTC)
anyone have any recs for an awesome, not-too-expensive sports bra for big boobs?
jasmin_x3 19th-Feb-2013 08:35 pm (UTC)
I buy mine at Target (the one with thicker straps) and I love them. They're the only ones i've tried that actually support anything lol
elstree 20th-Feb-2013 12:54 am (UTC)
target is definitely in my price range. i bought some from there before but maybe i picked the wrong ones. i'll look again, thanks!
givemethepen 19th-Feb-2013 08:41 pm (UTC)
Shock Absorber Level 4+ bras...I don't know how much they are in America (or even if they're sold there lol - if not look on eBay UK). You can usually get last season styles for about £10-£15 on eBay, new with tags..totally worth it. I'm an F and they keep mine pretty much wobble-free.
joliebelle 19th-Feb-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
Cup sized. Shock absorber, panache sport, enell, freya active. check ebay and amazon too
gainingvelocity 19th-Feb-2013 09:08 pm (UTC)
I don't know what you consider big, but I'm a 34D and I like the ones from Old Navy
hypnology 19th-Feb-2013 07:58 pm (UTC)
I'm going to the doctor's last this week to check out my knee because it hurts and my parents think I might have runner's knee and I'm so worried I won't be able to work out
winniecooper 19th-Feb-2013 08:04 pm (UTC)
girl, time to see a physical therapist. seriously, your MD is either going to just send you home with some pain killers which will only keep you hurting yourself or refer you to a PT anyway.
_myaugust 19th-Feb-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
Like the person above said, go to either a PT or AT as a doctor is just going to refer to either or.
derka_drka 19th-Feb-2013 09:23 pm (UTC)
you usually need to be referred to PT. even if you have direct access, the PT can't make a medical diagnosis/order diagnostic testing. also, depending on your insurance policy, you need the doctor's referral.
saybonjour 19th-Feb-2013 07:59 pm (UTC)
i miss working out :( i was doing awesome on the couch 2 5k program but then got diagnosed with a heart condition and can't do any physical activity lol this shit rn
gainingvelocity 19th-Feb-2013 09:09 pm (UTC)
You can't do physical activity ever again or just for awhile?
licorrice 19th-Feb-2013 08:00 pm (UTC)
Her body is so boxy it's nagl

I run a mile everyday and do yoga Tuesday's and thursdays
liddlebins 19th-Feb-2013 10:21 pm (UTC)
it's not body slamming if saying she has a boxy body is a factual observation and not a mistruth
gonerilandregan 19th-Feb-2013 08:00 pm (UTC)
Tried Couch to 5k. Didn't get past Week 2. I should get back on track, but... last day I did it, these creepy guys were shouting vulgar things at me as they drove by. I broke down in tears, and all these old men sitting in the park were just staring at me. Haha.

Also, if her body is "porky", then fuck me.

gainingvelocity 19th-Feb-2013 09:11 pm (UTC)
You should find a random neighborhood to run that's in the suburbs that doesn't see much activity.
gonerilandregan 19th-Feb-2013 10:00 pm (UTC)
true. also, if I ever get up the nerve to do it again, I'm just going to listen to the Couch to 5k podcast on my iPod to block out any people.
cscgrl4life 19th-Feb-2013 09:54 pm (UTC)
Fuck them bb don't let them be the reason you stop working out. Whenever that's happened to me I just flip them off and keep going. Guys are gross.
notebook_attire 20th-Feb-2013 12:52 am (UTC)
maybe try a university track. usually a safe(r) place than streets and the surface won't be as hard on your body as asphalt.
lillylilacs 19th-Feb-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
I have seen friends of friends (girls) call her boobs saggy, and I nhft. She has big, natural tits so they have a natural hang, people are becoming too used to fake tits.

angelrose493 19th-Feb-2013 08:18 pm (UTC)

Idg the boob hate; it's her thing
liddlebins 19th-Feb-2013 10:22 pm (UTC)
all these new acronyms are catching me off guard
francesbcobain 19th-Feb-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
I wish I was that "fat" tbh.
fabouluz 19th-Feb-2013 08:02 pm (UTC)
It's just her natural body shape that irks me
inhibiting 19th-Feb-2013 08:02 pm (UTC)
I have gotten back to the gym recently myself. Running ( although it honestly gets boring after a while) so I have been mixing it up with Pilates ( targeting the thighs and butt/tummy) as its the only way I find to get them lean. Also finesses classes at the community center down the street lol, nothing better than a Zumba class with random young/old/everything in between. It's great fun
kissoffools 19th-Feb-2013 08:04 pm (UTC)
i am in love with my saturday zumba class :D
inhibiting 19th-Feb-2013 08:36 pm (UTC)
I know right. Zumba is the shit. I realized I needed to teach fitness when one of the highlights of my week became my class. Plus the teacher was awesome and shit I got to dance my ass off for a whole hour lol
spacebound09 19th-Feb-2013 08:03 pm (UTC)
I'm OK with my weight and only want to loose belly fat, so hula hoop and exercises on press
whiskybars 19th-Feb-2013 08:03 pm (UTC)
her body is ok to me

i run/walk/dance. i'd rather work out at home, gyms make me anxious and borderline homicidal with that awful music blasting out in full volume all the time.
