Yeah, I can hear a depression that isn't directly related to lovesick heartbreak, that I can still identify with. While DC and other emo songs just filled my teen angst love bullshit.
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is still one of my fave albums ever. Although Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground and Fever and Mirrors are also extremely good imo.
