Mad Men Actor Talks City of Bone

'The Mortal Instruments' Star Jared Harris On the Cults of YA and 'Mad Men'

Jared Harris knows a thing or two about pop culture occults and the cults of pop culture. The Emmy-nominated actor is perhaps best known to audiences for his roles on fervent fan favorite TV shows like Fringe and Mad Men. Harris will next be seen in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, the big screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's popular fantasy YA series in which he plays Hodge Starkweather, a cursed tutor who teaches the Shadowhunters, a group of underground demon hunters.

I saw Beautiful Creatures. Not bad, but it flopped in the box office. Since this one has more action in it, maybe that'll stop it from being a flop? What say you ONTD

Ngl these books are trainwrecks that I love to read precisely because they manage to get worse and worse, but they've gotten so boring and the characters so insufferable (even more than usual) that I literally just skipped to all the parts with the gay couple in them for the last one. Also love how the author pitched the follow-up trilogy as being an opportunity to explore characters perspectives other than the main girl and her brooding love interest and by the second book we're back to them being the center of the universe again.

I say this because my butt will probably be drunk and in the theater watching this mess when it comes out. The casting though...I don't buy Kevin Zegers as Alec. He looks and is too old for the role and if you're going to subject the audience to Jace's douchiness, at least make the actor hotter than friggin Jamie Campbell Bower is. idk I just don't look at him and think "my god what an asshole but I also really want to ride his face" which is like 80% of the point of Jace. idk maybe when I actually see him in action it will make more sense.

In other news, my writing mojo is back. Hells yeah bitches, I am coming to get my million dollar contract.

But am I the only person who can't believe that CC's sales are going down down DOWN but she got a high SEVEN figure deal to do a THIRD Shadowhunters series? That cash cow is getting old and running dry.

I wish I had an answer for you. I guess they are hoping that the books would get more popular? Her books don't sell horribly persay, but she's midlist at best. Especially for someone with such a huge built in fanbase, and massive social networking ~power, that she'd be selling mad books.

It just dawned on me that he played Moriarty in RDJ's Sherlock movies.

TMI needs to bomb. big time.

None of the trailers for TBC gave me the foggiest idea as to what it was about. Other than it kinda screamed Anne Rice's Mayfair witches lite.
