I haaate Jimmy. It seriously bugs me that he's the main love interest on the show, since he is so terrible. UK Steve wasn't perfect, but he truly adored Fiona AND her family.
That being said, I thought she was a little unfair with all of that. Yes, he was whiny and it wasn't attractive. Yes, it seemed petty compared to their problems. But these people live a life full of shit - all of his problems are going to seem petty. That doesn't mean they should all be dismissed. For most people, finding out that your father has been cheating on your mother for years with a wide assortment of men, including teenagers, would be pretty jarring. Just let him bitch without belittling his feelings.

im always on the fence with jimmy/steve. he seemed dodgy to me from episode 1, and i just cant warm myself up to him. it boggles me that people actually like him, because i'm just waiting for him to fuck off and go away and be all "HAHA FOOLED YOU"
But they did show that montage of Jimmy talking about it for days and days, every chance he got. In bed, in the kitchen, in the shower. Fiona's been listening, and not writing him off. But then he comes home drunk and STILL wants to cry about it at the worst possible moment, while they are digging a dead body up from the yard. It makes sense that she'd snap eventually.
