Stars Who Have Recently Asserted Their LGBT Status

As anyone on the LGBT spectrum — and R. Kelly — will tell you, being “trapped in the closet” is never an easy existence.
Thankfully, though, it’s the 21st century, and one’s “alternative lifestyle” is no longer the tabloid fodder it once was. Nowadays, celebrities’ sexualities are no longer what defines them, necessarily, but instead just an attribute.
Still, coming out takes some serious balls, so to speak, so we salute the following celebs who have all become “out and proud” recently.
Victor Garber

The Alias alum and Deception star confirmed in a January 2013 interview that a Wikipedia mention of his male partner was accurate, the first time he’s addressed his sexuality publicly.
Matt Dallas

In the latest in a trend of low-key comings-out, Kyle XY star Matt Dallas nonchalantly revealed his fiancé, musician Blue Hamilton, in a January 2013 tweet.
Sam Champion

The Good Morning America weatherman came out in October 2012 and also announced his engagement to boyfriend Rubem Robierb. The happy couple married that December.
Mika

The glam rocker categorized himself as gay — and revealed that many of his songs are about a relationship with a man — in a September 2012 Instinct magazine article.
Frank Ocean

The Grammy nominee discussed a previous relationship with a man in a July 2012 Tumblr post, and the hip-hop community seemed to meet his announcement with an upswell of support.
Anderson Cooper

The CNN silver fox has never hidden his sexuality, but he asserted it head-on in July 2012 via a public email to journalist Andrew Sullivan.
Jim Parsons

The Big Bang Theory breakout’s status as a gay man was mentioned casually in a May 2012 New York Times article.
Gillian Anderson

Though she’s had at least two long-term relationships with men, the X-Files beauty revealed in a March 2012 interview with Out magazine that she has enjoyed relationships with women, as well.
Matt Bomer

Upon receiving a humanitarian award for his HIV/AIDS activism in February 2012, White Collar hunk Matt Bomer thanked his partner, Simon, and their children.

PS I love Pinoe
I don't like to stereotype but I have a very hard time believing Tobs is straight. The fact that she's a hardcore Christian made me believe that she might be straight (not that gays can't be religious) but she tweets bible verses almost 24/7. She's rumored to have a bf now so I guess she's going the beard route which is sad. I mean Pinoe and Lindsey have come out and as far as I know most people have been supportive. so I'm guessing her strict christian upbringing will prevent her from coming out :\
She does have Pinoe and Lindsey there, but she also has Abby who sits in the closet and refuses to acknowledge what everyone knows. Abby pisses me off so much. I love her, but when you call your girlfriend babe in public and then refuse to acknowledge it, it bugs the shit out of me. She supports all of these people who come out and then acts like it's not okay to be who you are by staying in the closet.
I would gladly lend my help to Tobin if she ever wanted to confirm what everyone already knows. She is hot af

And Abby I have no idea what she's doing. I get that she's a private person but there isn't a person in this world who thinks she's straight even people who don't follow women's soccer and saw her win the Ballon D'or assumed she was openly gay. I guess she doesn't want the publicity idk
it sucks that any of the players feel like they have to stay in the closet. there's a lot of rumors about Ashlyn and Ali too I never really paid that much attention but I assume they're dating?
I look at the Swedish team and there are several openly gay players some even have kids with their partners.
