Xtina leaves her dog TIED UP OUTSIDE while she goes for lunch

Singer Christina Aguilera went for a bite to eat Saturday in Los Angeles, but before going inside the restaurant to put in her order, she tied up her beloved pooch on a nearby post.

The brown and white speckled dog was clearly sad to see her go and looked a little forlorn.

Fortunately he was given lots of cuddles before his mistress popped inside the eatery briefly.

doesn't everyone do this?
mydogfred 14th-Feb-2013 08:40 am (UTC)
no because of people like railway below
fwee_prower 14th-Feb-2013 08:41 am (UTC)
yeah i saw that...
platinum_yum 14th-Feb-2013 08:45 am (UTC)
Mte, that is one of my fears!
fruitchews 14th-Feb-2013 08:45 am (UTC)
I don't do it. I live in the suburbs, however, and there's only houses around me. To walk to our 'square' is about five miles and my doggies are too old and fat to make the distance.
piratesswoop 14th-Feb-2013 10:58 am (UTC)
i'm in france and people do it a lot here
galagooo 14th-Feb-2013 11:24 am (UTC)
nope
agatharuncible 14th-Feb-2013 01:33 pm (UTC)
no

a lot of people do it in places where you can take your dog in, but I can only understand it if you're just going very quickly into a store, not actually having lunch. I wouldn't do it either way, especially if I had a pedigree dog since they could be stolen.
ectypes 14th-Feb-2013 01:42 pm (UTC)
yes. i thought "curbing your dog" was pretty common in cities
d00ditsemily 14th-Feb-2013 01:51 pm (UTC)
No and in the county I live in it's illegal to have your dog tethered at all, even in your back yard.
_myaugust 14th-Feb-2013 02:10 pm (UTC)
Yeah.
sevenbeat 14th-Feb-2013 02:37 pm (UTC)
yeah, it's really not a big deal.
actxappalledx 14th-Feb-2013 02:47 pm (UTC)
lol mte. i take my dog everywhere with me pretty much, and if i have to run into the store to buy something, i leave him outside tied to a pole or a tree or something. it's not like i'm inside for 45 minutes just perusing around. i'm in and out in five minutes
withoutyoursmil 14th-Feb-2013 02:59 pm (UTC)
i thought so
juniorponynyc 14th-Feb-2013 08:33 pm (UTC)
MTE- everyone in NY does it.
ruby_woo 14th-Feb-2013 09:18 pm (UTC)
I see it all the time in Vancouver, no big deal.
rabbitncavylove 15th-Feb-2013 05:11 am (UTC)
I wouldn't b/c the dog could get stolen easily imo.

railway 14th-Feb-2013 08:23 am (UTC)
Whenever I see a sad-looking dog tied up outside a cafe, I am so tempted to steal it and take it home and cuddle it forever.
andres01234 14th-Feb-2013 11:57 am (UTC)
you know that's stealing, right?
railway 14th-Feb-2013 11:58 am (UTC)
You saw in my comment where I used the actual word 'steal', right?
trex_in_boots 14th-Feb-2013 02:14 pm (UTC)
oh gosh this so much! I can't stand when people treat their animals like that.
claddaghemerald 14th-Feb-2013 03:23 pm (UTC)
WHO is that in your icon? It kind of looks like Patric Stewart but I feel it is not him. I need to know please.
jbants 14th-Feb-2013 04:06 pm (UTC)
This. I have two dogs, a boxer and a pug, and I would NEVER tether them to a fucking street post while I go eat lunch. Maybe because I live in Minneapolis and there's a fair amount of assholes here but, I think that's just cruel and you have to be pretty damn trusting to do it.

fantaesticbaby 14th-Feb-2013 08:28 am (UTC)
Wait did she actually eat inside the restaurant for a few hours while her dog was tied up outside or did she just get take out?
This article is really unclear...
Leaving your dog tied up outside in the middle of a street for a few hours is bad but just for a few minutes is no big deal.
fruitchews 14th-Feb-2013 08:31 am (UTC)
Exactly. A few minutes in line waiting for take out is different than sitting down for hours while your dog is tired to a tree.
fantaesticbaby 14th-Feb-2013 04:36 pm (UTC)
Ikr? I would struggle leaving a dog tied outside even for a few minutes, especially because dogs can be so easily stolen like that.
kamikashi 14th-Feb-2013 09:02 am (UTC)
its does say "his mistress popped inside the eatery briefly." i would take "briefly" as in a few minutes, but the article is a bit unclear. i do feel like if the dog was out there for an hour or two the article would be more scathing.
agatharuncible 14th-Feb-2013 01:34 pm (UTC)
I wouldn't leave the dog outside for even a few minutes but I can understand why people would, I guess. you're right, the article is really unclear but if she was eating I think it must have been at least some 15 minutes.
actxappalledx 14th-Feb-2013 02:48 pm (UTC)
It says she went in to put in her order and then later on says she was in their briefly, so I think she just ordered take out and left
simplychristina 14th-Feb-2013 03:47 pm (UTC)
She was in there a bit. This dog (Coco) actually went to her ex husband after the divorce. So it seems she was having a visit. Her ex was there at the restaurant too.
beaddddddsss 14th-Feb-2013 08:29 am (UTC)
Why not take your dog out for a walk before or after you decide to get an inside meal so he won't have to be tied up and lonely for crying out loud?

OT OT OT GO TO GOOGLE RN AND CLICK ON THE LITTLE HEART IN THE HEADER OMG SO ADORABLE

(the hare and the tortoise are my favorite, but I'm pretty sure ONTD is collectively the fox and the TV)

That is really not a bright idea. Especially if anyone realizes that the dog belongs to a celebrity. It is not uncommon for dogs to be stolen.

Also, people are not kind in general. I just went to a huge adoption event this weekend and we were not allowed to leave water down for the dogs. We had to give them a drink and then immediately pick it back up. Apparently at a different event last year someone went around and put poison in water bowls that were lying around.

In general I would not leave my dog unattended in public... :(
beating_heartss 14th-Feb-2013 08:33 am (UTC)
I bet the person who poisoned the dogs was some freak who ~doesn't believe in domesticated animals~
wowsolovely 14th-Feb-2013 08:34 am (UTC)

bluekrinkle 14th-Feb-2013 08:51 am (UTC)

Fucking assholes. I'm trying not to rage over the fact that someone could do that to an animal...
and I'm failing.

This is why I don't trust anyone around my pets. If I see anyone side eye my pet, I'm ready to throw down.

hipsterhobos 14th-Feb-2013 11:57 pm (UTC)
People who put anti-freeze in a dog's water bowl need to have the same thing happen to them. I hate sick fucks like that. I don't trust anyone with my pets either. /overprotective parent.
andthenwevomit 14th-Feb-2013 08:55 am (UTC)
poison WTF
what kind of sicko
abiding 14th-Feb-2013 09:03 am (UTC)
Wow wtf.
chismosa 14th-Feb-2013 09:05 am (UTC)
So gross.

We have serious problems with dog poisoning where I'm living right now. Giving them poisoned treats, poisoning little lakes where dogs frequently go, etc. etc. I'm so excited to be moving! It isn't the most pet-friendly place either but at least my lil guy isn't going to be targeted by evil people for absolutely no reason.
treradical 14th-Feb-2013 09:22 am (UTC)

OMG raaaaaage, I'd fucking KILL someone for doing that! What is fucking WRONG with ppl!?!?
distant_lines 14th-Feb-2013 12:06 pm (UTC)
Stuff like that makes me so scared of taking dogs out in public. That's why I'd put my dog in my purse if I ever took him out. I know some people don't like that idea, but he was 3 pounds, and when there were lots and lots of people around it made me nervous to have him down with all of that. He also loved being in my purse. He was one of those weird ones where he loved to go in my purse or car just to be there, then go to sleep after five minutes of looking around.

hoot 14th-Feb-2013 12:51 pm (UTC)
tbh with all the paparazzi outside waiting to take a picture of Christina that dog was probably completely safe. No one would steal a celebrities dog with 20 cameramen standing right there.
open0rclosed 14th-Feb-2013 12:56 pm (UTC)
JFC. I read about people going around dog parks leaving cheese squares and putting nails inside of them and anti freeze in the dog water bowls. I teared up at my desk at the thought. I hate people.

Dogs > people

green__desire 14th-Feb-2013 02:30 pm (UTC)
I could kill people that do this shit in cold blood and feel absolutely nothing but joy.
toilandblood 14th-Feb-2013 02:57 pm (UTC)
omg what a sicko who would poison animals :(
gina_trent 14th-Feb-2013 03:42 pm (UTC)
Hell, a long time ago our next door neighbor poisoned our dog through our fence. People are sick.
fantaesticbaby 14th-Feb-2013 04:38 pm (UTC)
what the fuck o______o what kind of a sicko does that to animals oh my god
atomiccake 14th-Feb-2013 06:14 pm (UTC)
What kind of asshole even thinks of doing something so sick? At an adoption event, no less. Just go blow up an orphanage while you're at it! I'm always afraid my dogs are going to be poisoned through our fence. We live on a corner so our yard runs along the sidewalk. A lot of people walk by from the train station a block away. My three dogs are really small and yappy and people always yell "SHUT UP!" at them while they're walking by or will stop and harass them. People really hate small dogs.
sixseventytwo 14th-Feb-2013 11:09 pm (UTC)
Actually my worst fear for my dog to pick up something poisoned/with nails in it or something because she's a puppy and tries to eat EVERYTHING.
rabbitncavylove 15th-Feb-2013 05:13 am (UTC)
well, I'd hope the paparazzi would be a deterrent for one? like they are taking pics . idk

wowsolovely 14th-Feb-2013 08:36 am (UTC)
I don't think its horrible to tie up your dog for something super quick but otherwise leave your dog at home. Besides not being fair to the dog it is not safe. People steal dogs like crazy and I can imagine it being worse if your famous.

fruitchews 14th-Feb-2013 08:51 am (UTC)
I used to live in BFE MO and people were stealing dogs even then! I was so paranoid my bbs would be taken while I was taking them out to potty. I could not even imagine being a celeb and dealing with that.
ocdmomma 14th-Feb-2013 09:26 am (UTC)
This! I'm from Truxton, MO (Lincoln County) and the puppy milling here just makes me sick. I don't know why we're meth and mill capital, but god damn get a better hobby people
wowsolovely 14th-Feb-2013 04:00 pm (UTC)
I don't think it matters where you live people are sick. When I was looking for a dog online I would see soooo many people whos dogs were stole out of their backyard. As much as I would love to leave my dog in the backyard when I am at work I will not do it. He is a pitbull so I am even more paranoid I have read stories about people giving poison food or treats to pitbulls.

Luckily my dog has health problems (I mean it sucks) but he isn't the most attractive so I doubt anyone would ever steal him.
fruitchews 14th-Feb-2013 08:38 am (UTC)
Even if she went inside for take out, I do hope those paps were looking out for her dog tbh. I hope that doggie got water and some french fires at least.
aurorab0realis 14th-Feb-2013 09:07 am (UTC)
That's kind of what I was thinking lol. The paps would probably stay outside and wait for her to come back out so if someone tried to steal her dog they'd be photographed and hopefully the paps would do something about it...

I don't really have a problem leaving your dog outside a place if you're just going in for a bit, and who knows, she might have just gone in to get take out/a drink or whatever.
london_eclipse 14th-Feb-2013 01:29 pm (UTC)
Unfortunately I feel like they'd charge her a ridiculous sum of money for the picture of the jackhole who stole her dog. :/
platinum_yum 14th-Feb-2013 08:40 am (UTC)
One of my dogs passed away a couple of months ago, and my other dog is still adjusting to being an only and hates being left home alone. Sometimes I wish I could take her to the store with me and leave her outside while I pop in, but I'm too paranoid.
