My (black) parents talked (and still talk) about how spanking is the only way and time out doesn't work, etc...but I think I got literally one spanking in my life. They'd usually talk to me about why what I did was wrong. So even though they talked a big game, they were doing what they thought was, tbh ~white people~ punishments to me irl.
I wouldn't drink milk so my mom put me on the porch and said she was calling a school for bad children that was going to pick me up and I would never see her or my family again.
We met in the middle and I had strawberry milk once my father came home.

but i wouldn't consider that weird, really
reminds me of my friend who broke her mother's vase and then yelled "hide all the chancletas!"
everyone and i mean everyone got the chancla or el cinto when they were being cabrones.
cuz i got black parents and you know...
of course now my mother conveniently has forgotten all about it "ohhh we never did that to you!" smh
she only did it once but i learned my lesson when i was like 13
my mom would shove the dove soap bar in my mouth when i would curse.
I did not care for it much at all.
