Warner Bros. wants to give Dorothy a sword and a TV show called Red Brick Road

What if you gave everyone in The Wizard of Oz swords, and instead of the Wicked Witch of the West throwing fireballs she throws decapitated horse heads? Boom, Game of Thrones meets Oz. And that's exactly what Warner Bros. TV wants their next big magical series to be.

THR is reporting that the studio wants to make Red Brick Road "a continuation of the Wizard of Oz story but told in a Game of Thrones fashion, filled with politics, intrigue and violence." Oooh intrigue! The series is created by Rob Prior, who is a well-known concept artist and has actually drawn a few images of this Red Brick Road before (above). And holy shit look at the Tin Man — that is awesome. There's no telling if the series will be based on these drawings, but take solace in the fact that Prior is a gifted character creator, so there could be some cool beasties in our future.

Producers attached to the project include Mark Wolper, Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh (Wolper and Lee are attached to the A&E Psycho prequel series).

Seriously

I mean, what was political in Oz? Where is the power struggle going to come from? And making the characters look badass doesn't mean they will be.

Wicked already did this re: politics etc.

This sounds stupid, but tbh, if they use book!Oz then there's a lot of political intrigue they could use. There's 13 Baum sequels about the political landscape in Ozland.
