Best of 2013 Grammys Mani Cam!

Janelle Monae

With so many dress code restrictions in place for the Grammys, how else were all of these artists supposed to express themselves creatively?!

It's a good thing E! had not one, but two Mani Cams on the red carpet tonight! Problem solved.

Carly Rae

Katy Perry

Kelly Rowland

Miranda Lambert

Florence (eaux)

Taylor Swift (Didn't J Law do the walking fingers thing last week tho?)

Jennifer Lopez

Faith Hill

E! Online

lmao THESE are the best? tho I'm have the same color as Katy on right now

shadowpiranha 11th-Feb-2013 07:30 pm (UTC)
The mani-cam is the bane of award shows for me. The only thing worse is Ryan Seacrest.

Also holy fuck fingers are creepy.

E!'s award show stuff is the worst. But mainly just Fashion Police.
shadowpiranha 11th-Feb-2013 07:57 pm (UTC)
I hate all those people.
shining_starsxx 11th-Feb-2013 10:57 pm (UTC)
I always hate seeing Giuliana Rancic being thirsty for George Clooney.(Not at the Grammys but every other one)
fabouluz 11th-Feb-2013 07:30 pm (UTC)
I abhor short stubby nails.
eaglefan2011 11th-Feb-2013 07:31 pm (UTC)
alienclit 11th-Feb-2013 07:34 pm (UTC)
me too. Especially at an event like this.
evett 11th-Feb-2013 07:43 pm (UTC)
ia like Taylor's are short but they don't look stubby. Carly Rae has gross stubby fingers
dothecrunge 11th-Feb-2013 07:54 pm (UTC)
she_can_rock 11th-Feb-2013 07:56 pm (UTC)
i cant help it they break so easily no matter what i use :(
mcwicca 11th-Feb-2013 08:30 pm (UTC)
A lot of these girls play guitar which is why they have to keep them short.
strict_joy 11th-Feb-2013 10:52 pm (UTC)
Thank you.

sprinklebell 12th-Feb-2013 01:07 am (UTC)
lol yup
senorita__ 11th-Feb-2013 09:11 pm (UTC)
short and stubby are not mutually exclusive though i think the shorter nails look better than the claw-like nails
crashh_world 11th-Feb-2013 10:12 pm (UTC)
I hate long nails
lidahbidah 11th-Feb-2013 07:30 pm (UTC)
Yo, Faith Hill has some ugly hands.
kpoplvr 11th-Feb-2013 08:03 pm (UTC)
it's called age.
lidahbidah 11th-Feb-2013 08:06 pm (UTC)
There are many young people who have ugly behind hands.
agentnever 12th-Feb-2013 04:08 am (UTC)
I know plenty of 50+ women who don't have hands that look like that. I thought they belonged to an old lady, not a 45 year old.
pindycindy 11th-Feb-2013 11:48 pm (UTC)
IA, I thought it was a man....it has nothing to do with age.
coulson 11th-Feb-2013 07:30 pm (UTC)
trying to wrap my head around a "mani-cam"

gaga 11th-Feb-2013 07:31 pm (UTC)
i loved j.lo's jewelry
fauxkaren 11th-Feb-2013 07:31 pm (UTC)

This is what is on my nails rn.

It's the liquid sand stuff. But then the texture bothered me, so I put Seche Vite on top and now they look like the picture above.
fauxkaren 11th-Feb-2013 07:32 pm (UTC)
This picture is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. But I'm too lazy to change it now.
therearewords 11th-Feb-2013 08:26 pm (UTC)
Horribly OT but could you give me your BEST READS when it comes to GoT fanfic? It's for science.
deltabean 11th-Feb-2013 07:40 pm (UTC)
backtoblack 11th-Feb-2013 08:02 pm (UTC)
This is reminding me I need a new bottle of Seche, mine has turned into syrup and makes my nails look bad
kingsmere 11th-Feb-2013 08:13 pm (UTC)
I love the look of this with topcoat. I was going to get it but I was wondering if the topcoat would look bumpy because of the textured polish.
16_bit_goddess 11th-Feb-2013 08:13 pm (UTC)
foureyedgirl 11th-Feb-2013 09:08 pm (UTC)
I'm wearing this shade too. haha but I love the sand texture so I don't use a top coat.
vanillefax 11th-Feb-2013 09:17 pm (UTC)
My jaw just dropped on the floor, so gorgeous
the_landlady 11th-Feb-2013 11:05 pm (UTC)
I tried Seche Vite a few months ago and had problems with peeling. Like, the entire thing would peel off (including the base coat and color). You don't have a problem with this?

I was using OPI base and Essie or OPI color. UGH tell me your secrets because it looks so good when I first put it on.
goofusgallant 11th-Feb-2013 11:38 pm (UTC)
ooo this looks pretty.
I looks so much nicer with a top coat.
dovecage 11th-Feb-2013 07:32 pm (UTC)
I had gel overlays once and they royally fucked up my nails. It took months for them to grow back properly.
fauxkaren 11th-Feb-2013 07:37 pm (UTC)
Same thing happened to my sister.
sugary_placenta 11th-Feb-2013 08:00 pm (UTC)
really? a lot of people use them to strengthen their nails and help with growth after wearing acrylics...
dovecage 11th-Feb-2013 08:22 pm (UTC)
I have super weak nails since I bit them down to the quick all through until my early twenties. I got gel overlays for a family wedding and they started peeling at the tips after a week and looked gross. I followed the instructions for soaking them off but they just turned to a glue-like goo I had to pick off. My nails underneath were trashed. When I had them done, I watched her file away loads of the nail surface and paint what looked like nail glue on first before the gel, and I just assumed that was to help the gel stay put. Looking back now that can't be good for the nails can it?
abiding 11th-Feb-2013 08:07 pm (UTC)
I keep seeing this and this makes me not want to try gel even more.
xdecadentx 11th-Feb-2013 08:27 pm (UTC)

But I had them with nails inc and they were fantastic. They're just expensive as fuck.
shepherds 11th-Feb-2013 09:34 pm (UTC)
Yeah I got them last month and had no idea it was going to be such a pain to get the gel off. All online advice said I had to soak them in 100% Acetone but that's damaging as fuck, so I ended up soaking my nails in hot water for ten mins and gently peeling it off. I'll never get that again.
foreverxromance 11th-Feb-2013 07:33 pm (UTC)
also i wish i had slimmer fingers lol as funny as that sounds. my fingers/toes are so short and stubby. i don't mind my toes bc at least they're not a mile long like some ppl but yeah...my hands look like a 5 yr old's lol
sugary_placenta 11th-Feb-2013 08:01 pm (UTC)
i wish my fingers were rounder at the tips\more delicate. they always look boxy and big.
diggingtrouble 11th-Feb-2013 10:17 pm (UTC)
same haha i hate it. my fingers are so stubby and my hands are small. i want pretty womanly hands :(
fancycarousel 11th-Feb-2013 07:34 pm (UTC)
Lol why is this a thing
misoras 11th-Feb-2013 07:34 pm (UTC)
when did nails become such a thing
letsallchant 11th-Feb-2013 08:08 pm (UTC)
I remember reading somewhere that theorized that the whole nail polish craze is due to the low economy, since it's a quick way to ~update your style~ on the cheap. Kind of like how lipstick became a thing back in the day.
lillylilacs 11th-Feb-2013 08:21 pm (UTC)
yup, I read the same thing! they also said that historically hemlines went longer during low economies, and shorter during high economies which I thought was interesting.
miss_almost 11th-Feb-2013 08:48 pm (UTC)
this. its also a form of escapism.
frenchverbs 11th-Feb-2013 09:03 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I read that article. It's so true - 99% of the time, when I buy nail polish, it's because I need a cheap way to update my look.
fuckyess 12th-Feb-2013 08:17 am (UTC)
except the fancy ass brands that are like ten dollars a bottle and bitches buy DOZENS of them

that isn't cheap
senorita__ 11th-Feb-2013 09:15 pm (UTC)
i was more wondering, when did the trend of having your ring finger a different color come about?
highflyer8 11th-Feb-2013 10:58 pm (UTC)
Pinterest I think.
sprinklebell 12th-Feb-2013 01:09 am (UTC)
it's a status thing. Having long nails that are nicely shaped and polished are difficult to maintain if you work with your hands or at all. It gives the illusion of wealth etc. Like how Tanning is considered beautiful because it means you have the expendable time to lounge in the sun
tucker 12th-Feb-2013 01:15 am (UTC)
trendy nail polish has been around forever but it's really blown up the last 3-5 years I would say
