Taylor Swift To Open Grammys

Taylor Swift is no rookie when it comes to performing at the Grammys, but that doesn't mean that prepping for Sunday's show isn't stressful, especially considering she's opening the whole shindig.

"Oh my god, it's Grammy week, it's so hectic. I have a lot to plan for with the opening performance and I'm just really hoping all the pieces come together this week. Because this is when it really gets really crazy, but it's all very exciting too," she told Ryan Seacrest about taking the stage first.

Grammy exec Ken Ehrlich teased that this will be a Taylor Swift you've never seen before when she takes the stage. And while Swift didn't get into specifics, she did note it's a performance that's been long in the works.

"You know what's interesting about these performances, like we presented this performance to the Grammy committee and we just said, 'This is what we'd like to do,' and they said 'OK, cool, you have a performance slot'," she explained. "And then like a week ago they call us and they're like 'Oh, by the way you're opening the show.' So it's not like they approach you and say listen 'Let's do a big opening performance thing,' it just kind of surprised me that I was gonna go first. But I'm really, really excited about it."

On top of her two nominations for her "Hunger Games" soundtrack track "Safe & Sound," Swift is also up for Record of the Year for her lead Red single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," which she teased is the tune she'll likely perform.

"I think you should perform the song that's nominated," she told Seacrest.

"Like, if you got a song nominated for Record of the Year, you might as well perform that. It's a big hint."

Once the Grammys wrap up, fans will have a new single to look forward to from Swift. She confirmed that "22" will be her next release from her chart-topping 2012 album.

"Oh, it was just the best [being 22]. I'm really stoked that that's going to be the next single," she said. "I wrote that about my friends, like finally I've got this amazing group of girlfriends and we tell each other everything, we're together all the time. And I think that was kind of the marker of me being 22, like having all these friends and there's all these question marks in your life, but the one thing that you have is that you have each other."

Oh gosh I love it, but hate her vocals. I actually listen to a cover by someone instead :x
takeurtime 9th-Feb-2013 03:46 pm (UTC)
Really I loved her vocals on that more than any other thing she has sang. When WANEGBT came out I was dissapointed I was hoping for more safe and sound songs.
colorzplosion 9th-Feb-2013 03:51 pm (UTC)
that's b/c they sounded like the civil wars & not her
memorian 9th-Feb-2013 06:35 pm (UTC)
I hate that those are the only songs I like by her, because her music doesn't regularly sound like that. I wish she would just make an entire album like that with the help of the Civil Wars.
rctshack 10th-Feb-2013 12:34 am (UTC)
I have a feeling she's singing one of those because of that comment... I think she is way past WANEGBT, even though it's nominated. I feel like she would rely on a more vocal performance instead of poppy.
dynamite_state 9th-Feb-2013 02:57 pm (UTC)
she should be performing Safe & Sound smh

This years Grammys sounds very boring. I don't think I'll bother.
l27freakshow 9th-Feb-2013 05:33 pm (UTC)
I agree. I really just want to watch to see what people wear, but that's about it.
backincharge 10th-Feb-2013 01:25 am (UTC)
I'll watch, since I watch ever year, but there's just nothing that interests me so far for this year. None of the performers really interest me.
ellaellaeheheh 9th-Feb-2013 03:01 pm (UTC)
she should perform Safe and Sound. her best song. I really don't like 22, so generic.
rainbowren 9th-Feb-2013 03:04 pm (UTC)
Ugh this years Grammy's is such a flop, ONTD's Grammy's is better than 90% of the actual nominations.
kassieland 9th-Feb-2013 03:07 pm (UTC)
I've been listening to her music non-stop.
deltabean 9th-Feb-2013 03:17 pm (UTC)
What songs?
kassieland 9th-Feb-2013 09:05 pm (UTC)
Mostly The Last Time, All Too Well, State Of Grace and The Lucky One. I'm listening to all of her albums tho, but those are the most played. Also, Last Kiss from her Sparks Fly album absolutely destroys me.
takeurtime 9th-Feb-2013 03:45 pm (UTC)
I listen to all too well and the last time and just get really upset. They are so good though. Even if I realate to them in terrible ways.
illustratedd 9th-Feb-2013 03:13 pm (UTC)
well, i hope she wins something. her entire album was flawless imo (treacheroussssssssssss).
iamalreadyinuse 9th-Feb-2013 11:50 pm (UTC)
This album isnt elligible this year. She'll sweep next years grammys.
konichiwacobra 9th-Feb-2013 03:15 pm (UTC)
i'm not excited at all to watch this, but twitter will make it interesting.
lucciolaa 9th-Feb-2013 03:15 pm (UTC)
I am so tired of the music industry's 9-hour hard-on for her.
takeurtime 9th-Feb-2013 03:47 pm (UTC)
I feel they have the opposite. Since everyone is making a joke about her for laughs or really trashing her...
i love your icon. I wish I could see megans baby.
stormer1_1 9th-Feb-2013 05:27 pm (UTC)
jooo are not alone.
rctshack 10th-Feb-2013 12:37 am (UTC)
She's legit... as much as people want to hate her for her personal life, her albums are pretty solid and have some great music that she does herself. I've have a 9 hour hard on too considering the state the music industry is in with artist now.

takeurtime 9th-Feb-2013 03:43 pm (UTC)
Why not All Too Well? It is supposed to be her next single and even though that song hurts me I would love to see it live.
Plus it is better written that WANEGBT

I think her next single is 22. :(
palmthejoker 9th-Feb-2013 06:50 pm (UTC)
I love your icon! Foxes are so ridiculous and photogenic.
rctshack 10th-Feb-2013 12:46 am (UTC)
The whole last paragraph is about how 22 is her next single and she confirmed it too. All Too Well is an amazing song but it won't translate to the radio well as a hit. Plus it's about a previous guy in her life and 22 isn't... so I think it's a REALLY smart move on someones part to release the upbeat catchy song that's not about a previous lover instead of the slow non-catchy song about some past guy.
colorzplosion 9th-Feb-2013 03:53 pm (UTC)
at least it'll be over with quickly?
novacek001 9th-Feb-2013 04:05 pm (UTC)
i love her album idgaf

every single song is so good except Sad Beautiful Tragic, which is just downright depressing and ruins my mood for the whole day.
xandy_candyx 9th-Feb-2013 04:18 pm (UTC)
oh tay, stop with that damn song! i hate that song and the things she does with her hands!
