These Best Picture Posters Deserve an Oscar of Their Own

The actual movie posters for this year's Best Picture nominees have nothing on these. The Academy teamed up with Gallery1988 (which we've written about before) to commission artists to create screen prints inspired by the top films. The final products are beautiful and evocative of the themes and moods of the movies they represent. While we like them all, we're partial to the haunting, reflective take on Beasts of the Southern Wild. You can learn more about the artists here.

The Zero Dark Thirty ones are terrible, wtf?

I like the Les Mis one best. The Beasts one is nice, but doesn't suit the movie imo.

Movie posters suck nowadays. I wish they'd go back to drawing them, might as well since most are photoshop disasters anyways.

I thought so too but I wasn't sure, and I didn't wanna risk having the post denied over two extra posters so I just kept them out lol

Eh, I think you'd be fine. It's not a list and if there hasn't been an update to the rules post, which there doesn't seem to have been, then you're ok.

i can see it, just less detail than his style. tbh i actually dont really care for stout's style. im awaiting his drive poster though since i love that movie.

yeah, definitely has way less detail than his. i love his style though. i think it might have more to do with the subjects of his prints than anything, though. blade runner, robocop, the warriors? i'm in.

Mondo is going to to drop some oscar posters. they will be of this quality or better.

very nice! that one is hard to get and is very beloved lol. im sure there will be more avenger type posters coming as the individual movies come out.

oh and i believe olly moss is rumored to be doing les mis.

I'm still missing Flight and The Sessions to finish the acting categories.

Still pissed that The Master wasn't nominated for best cinematography.

Flight was really good because Denzel is just out of this world (acting wise).

i watched the master on monday and i did like it a lot, i can't believe i put off watching it for so long..im never listening to ONTD&Critics in general, because it seems like everyone hated it and yet i reallyy enjoyed the shit out of it.

I mean, going back to look at it, it has Jen and Brad on it FOUR fucking times. That just seems excessive. As does that weird wings/lightning graphics on the side. Just, stop.
