Community ratings up
NBC has been getting hammered in the press for its spiraling ratings. New shows Deception, Do No Harm and 1600 Penn have collapsed out of the gate, while the return of Smash bombed earlier this week.
Now here comes little Community, finally back on the air for its fourth season. And guess what? The comedy returned higher in the ratings — just slightly, mind you, but still: In a season where most shows returned lower, Community has bucked the trend. Oh, and the comedy also faced Fox’s American Idol – unlike its previous premiere. Community also improved on NBC’s average in this slot this season by 38 percent.
Community had 4 million viewers and a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49, up 6 percent from its previous debut in September, 2011. Meaningless comparison: That’s 50 percent higher than Tuesday’s Smash premiere.
This is sure to be joyous news for the Community team, which has watched NBC heavily promote Smash while pushing their show from its original fall premiere date. And it will also help those renewal odds. As NBC chief Robert Greenblatt said last month, the show could “absolutely” get a fifth season. (Buzzkill disclaimer: Community‘s adult demo rating could be adjusted down to tie its previous premiere rating when Nielsen releases its more accurate numbers this afternoon, but one network analyst said the 1.8 should be sustained — at worst, the comedy managed to remain steady despite increased competition, which is still a victory).

I just rewatched the premiere, and I liked it a little better the second time.

Last night's Scandal episode was RIDICULOUS.
11 million is a great number. I'm so happy, it's up from the last Thursday airing! Considering it never REALLY aired after the Super Bowl or in PrimeTime, the numbers are great :)
but quite late because of the blackout
which is weird because community is usually either very good or very bad
amazing.
Leslie and Ann are the best
FRIENDSHIP BEFORE MENSHIP.
/i'll leave now
Parks and Rec was AMAZING last night.
lol dead at SMASH getting randomly shit on
The demo rating is alright, but I expect it to drop next week. I think it's more interesting that Community got a higher overall number than Parks and Rec though.
