Emma Watson sticks up for Kristen Stewart

Harry Potter megastar Emma Watson, whose Perks Of Being A Wallflower releases to DVD next week, is featured in the February, 2013 issue of Vanity Fair Italia, and in her interview, she offers up some very strong words in support of Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart. From VF Italy (translation via) Watson addressed the constant media scrutiny Stewart has received over the past year for her personal life choices, saying "Those who criticized her are the same people that think that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect: Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world. For these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it."

Watson, who spent time with Stewart and The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence during an event in November, 2012, added, "I don't know how to explain it, but it sure isn't perfect. I thought that the media picked on her in a very horrible way. Kristen is human, just like everybody else, and she's so young. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone. It's not fair to consider them matters of public interest. On one hand, I can understand why it happened: people felt really involved in her relationship with Robert Pattinson. But it's also true that they both have done everything in their power to keep their relationship as far from the public eye as possible."

More from Watson's VF Italy feature can be found here.

So ... thoughts? The last time someone got this fired up on the issue, it was Jodie Foster, who portrayed her mother in Panic Room more than ten years before and who wrote a full essay on the issue condemning all the vitriol.

Oh here we go again with the "she's so young."

Also what are these lies about keeping their relationship as private as possible? LOL.

Seriously. She's 22 not 16.

How old are you, if you dont mind my asking?

I'm 26 now, but I did a LOT of stupid shit at 22. Not defending K Stewart because I couldn't give two shits if I tried but, I am a completely different person only four years later. I did some unbelievably stupid shit at 22 because I didn't know any better, and quite frankly, didn't give a shit about consequences at that age. I may as well have been 16.

mte, i always say i could never be famous because there's too much accessible shit on the internet/former peers that would sell for big $$$ & embarrass me with how i was just a few years ago.

Obviously, all young people make mistakes but it's a pretty damn stupid and huge mistake to be have an affair in the great wide open when you're a celebrity who knows the paparazzi follow you around L.A. Like, let's not pretend all young people can't stay away from their married bosses.

gotta agree on that one

idk why ONTD acts like it's not the case but society considers 22-year old as young people. legal adults, yes; teenagers, no but still young.

Because being young isn't an excuse for shitty behaviour.

It's because it's being used an excuse. She's not so young that she doesn't know the difference between right and wrong.
hollis1975 8th-Feb-2013 02:43 am (UTC)
yes she is young. but she is old enough to know better
lillylilacs 8th-Feb-2013 03:21 am (UTC)
mte, young 20somethings do stupid reckless things all the time and it is basically expected by society
hearthecity 8th-Feb-2013 03:56 am (UTC)
mte
thetxbelle 8th-Feb-2013 01:13 am (UTC)
But she is young, you can't expect anyone in their early 20s to not want to have fun and sometimes act careless smh

JK She's an idiot.

lmao
goldengirl66 8th-Feb-2013 11:17 am (UTC)
yes because Emma obviously didn't see all the non Twilight premieres they went to, all the red carpets where they held hands and made out, all the photoshoots and magazine interviews where they told us how they fell in love and what romantic things they do for each other, all the award ceremonies they went to where they brought each other...

hang on.. none of that happened, but go ahead and try and say they are the biggest famewhores ever. You won''t get far with that argument, even their fellow celebrities know they kept their 4 year relationship on the QT, to the point where people like Lainey chastise them for being immature and 'jumping into trash cans to avoid being photographed'.

You so stupid!

What's it like being a soccer mom so invested in this relationship? Embarrassing.
