Emma Watson sticks up for Kristen Stewart

Harry Potter megastar Emma Watson, whose Perks Of Being A Wallflower releases to DVD next week, is featured in the February, 2013 issue of Vanity Fair Italia, and in her interview, she offers up some very strong words in support of Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart. From VF Italy (translation via) Watson addressed the constant media scrutiny Stewart has received over the past year for her personal life choices, saying "Those who criticized her are the same people that think that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect: Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world. For these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it."

Watson, who spent time with Stewart and The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence during an event in November, 2012, added, "I don't know how to explain it, but it sure isn't perfect. I thought that the media picked on her in a very horrible way. Kristen is human, just like everybody else, and she's so young. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone. It's not fair to consider them matters of public interest. On one hand, I can understand why it happened: people felt really involved in her relationship with Robert Pattinson. But it's also true that they both have done everything in their power to keep their relationship as far from the public eye as possible."

More from Watson's VF Italy feature can be found here.

So ... thoughts? The last time someone got this fired up on the issue, it was Jodie Foster, who portrayed her mother in Panic Room more than ten years before and who wrote a full essay on the issue condemning all the vitriol.

Yeah whatever Hermione. If you've got time to spare, go spend it on some acting classes.

imnotasquirrel 8th-Feb-2013 12:23 am (UTC)
i'd settle for accent lessons if she's planning on playing any more americans.
kwikimart 8th-Feb-2013 12:27 am (UTC)
LOL truth.
manaconda 8th-Feb-2013 01:07 am (UTC)
lol i don't think all of the acting lessons in the world will save her from her blandness and third-string young white actress status. she's like the actress you call when all of the ones people generally care about are too busy, but you don't want to settle for emma roberts just yet.

Emma please, don't be fucking ridiculous. The entire thing was comprised of people saying "leave her alone." It was actually he - who was cheated on, who had to keep being asked questions about it. I CAN'T.
eyduh 8th-Feb-2013 07:34 am (UTC)
the cosmopolis promo was totally ruined by it, he was asked about it constantly, and she never got a single question about it

SERIOUSLY. -_- I honestly rme so hard whenever people say 'leave her alone.' Leave HIM alone. Everyone in ONTD calls him a tool, says he doesn't have any balls because it's taking him longer to leave her. HE had to answer these questions, and still can't catch a fucking break. WHEN did this person suffer? I'd love to know.

sowhat_whocares 8th-Feb-2013 12:25 am (UTC)
oh Emma, just stawp.

she got criticized because sleeping with a married man w/ children is shitty and selfish no matter who you are.
emerald_soul 8th-Feb-2013 12:27 am (UTC)
People who defend her seem to leave that part out. They only address people being upset she cheated on Rob. They won't acknowledge it's way bigger than that.
handsdowntoo 8th-Feb-2013 12:28 am (UTC)
I honestly think only his stans care he was cheated on. If she just cheated on a boyfriend with a single guy the scandal would have been over in a week.
beatlesluv 8th-Feb-2013 12:31 am (UTC)
MTE.
kwikimart 8th-Feb-2013 12:33 am (UTC)
Ikr?
And then all those pretentious mocking undertones to some of the articles as if betraying your partner and kids is the height of liberated sexuality
sowhat_whocares 8th-Feb-2013 12:38 am (UTC)
its all pawned off on crazy robstens being heartbroken she cheated on Rob.

no....no. most people instantly bristle at someone when they find out they willingly made a choice to have an affair with a man who was married (to someone you knew no less) and had children. and then when you mention that its "oh so its all her fault? the man doesnt get hate? TYPICAL". despite the fact that the 'man' wasnt mentioned because he wasnt the person we were talking about 1., 2., isn't the famous party involved and 3., saying one part involved is shitty doesnt negate the other party involved being equally as shitty,

her defenders really grate me. not just for their opinions but at their really ridiculous attempts to deflect arguments about Kstew.
christoph 8th-Feb-2013 12:25 am (UTC)
so what, then, is the approximate age when people are old enough to know not to cheat? 23?

I would hardly say she's getting "worked up"... but based on jodie fosters GG speech it doesnt surprise me she would have a lonnnng as rant about it, haha.

IA though. I'm not much of a KS fan but people need to get over it. How many male celebs are notorious cheaters and everyone still loves them?

That gif! Our family cat, rest her soul, used to watch TV when bears were on the screen. It was ADORABLE.
mrsdracula 8th-Feb-2013 12:32 am (UTC)
No Emma, stop.
How do these two constantly get roles? Neither can act.
kidrobot85 8th-Feb-2013 10:26 am (UTC)
right? there is so much talent out there (like the lovely lady in your icon). they chose this two... i'm still pressed they took Emma to play Belle. Belle is suppose to be the most beautiful girl of the village, NOT THE MOST BASIC!
door 8th-Feb-2013 12:33 am (UTC)
Horrible opinion; basic logic. Ten points from Gryffindor.

Ok we get it, Kristen is SO YOUNG.

You'd think she was a damn infant based on how much people emphasize it.
