Eve is back with a new sound, a new label and a very fashionable bob (priorities!), and she’s spilling the tea — specifically, the cup of tea that Nicki Minaj is not. In a rather lengthy (but very interesting!) interview with Power 105.1′s “The Breakfast Club,” Eve talked about everything! Going independent! Dating a rich white dude! Living in London! How Azealia Banks turned her down for a collaboration, maybe, but she can’t totally remember, so take it with a grain of salt! When the subject of Minaj came up, Eve said that she was “proud of her,” but that she wasn’t “her cup of tea.” Take that as you will, although the always-erudite Bossip describes it as “Shots Fired!”
It should be said that Eve’s honesty is refreshing, especially given how canned her contemporaries often sound when talking about their contemporaries, but also that it’s not going to make her any new friends. Oh well. Watch the full interview up top.
Brooklyn rapper Lil' Kim is not yet ready to give credit to Nicki Minaj for making a name for herself in the music industry and recently suggested she gave her a blueprint to follow.
While she would not name-drop, Kim did respond to paparazzi asking if she believed there would be a Nicki Minaj without her existence.
While Nicki Minaj continues to grow her success and can be watched twice a week during American Idol's 12th season, Lil' Kim still feuds and b*tches about Minaj. Just days ago, a TMZ reporter asked Lil' Kim, "Do you think Nicki Minaj would be as big as she is if there never was a Lil' Kim?" Kim answered, "I think that is self-explanatory."Sarcastically, Lil' Kim continued, "If you have to ask that, I think you know the answer." Today, Nicki Minaj is worth close to triple the millions Lil' Kim is worth, and both rappers who hail from New York, continue to make public appearances with their wigs, weave and wild behavior. Back in September, female rap veteran Missy Elliott weighed in on the Nicki/Kim dispute.
"I've never met Nicki, she's out there hustling, can't be mad at that. Lil' Kim is my sister, known her for years and I'll never turn my back on her, but there is enough room for everybody. I want to see everybody get it." Elliott even dreamed up an all-woman tour scenario. She is so excited about the idea, the multiplatinum rap star says she would humble herself just to make it happen. "Listen if we can get it done I'll open up. I don't care, I'll go on at 6:30," she said laughing. "I don't care who it is, let's just rock and roll, there's enough for everybody." (MTV)
In November 2010, Minaj talked to Hot 97's Angie Martinez and labeled Kim a hip-hop bully.
"It's one of those moments where you say, 'don't play with me,' because I respect you, I love you, I've said it in every interview time and time again, and if that's not good enough with you mama, then it's something deep rooted in you. Something is bothering you inside. That's your insecurity bothering you. [If] it's not Nicki Minaj, it would have been any girl that started poppin'. She picked a fight with Foxy [Brown], then she picked a fight with Eve, then she picked a fight with Remy [Ma], then it was Ms. [Voletta] Wallace, then it was Nicki Minaj. Every time you in the news is 'cause you gettin' at somebody. Where's your music? Put your music out. When I see your name on Billboard, that's when I'll respond to you. Other than that, goodbye." (Hot 97)
A month later, the Queen Bee jokingly said how much a collabo with Minaj would cost.
"I would do a song with her... for the right price. I'm a hustler. 7 million? Maybe," Kim said. "The girl is not as stupid as people think that she is...She know exactly what she's doing to make people feel sorry for her; that's her thing. She's a very contradicting creature, and I noticed that about her...God made it so that I can have my way back in and really represent the right way in this game for the females... She wanted to be the only one out there. Just because I been in the game for a minute don't mean it's over for me, baby. At the end of the day, I'm not going nowhere..." (Hot 97)
Stay classy Eve! For the tl;dr crowd Eve thinks women should stick together more. Azealia may have said she was "too busy" to work with her. She loves that Nicki is doing her on thing and can't hate, but not all of her music is her "cup of tea" and she's proud of her.
Love all four of them <3 AB should be slapped for (possibly) turning down the collab tho. And tmz should be slapped for their borderline racist commentary

Eve: I'm proud of her, but Nicki Minaj is not my "cup of tea" + Lil Kim giving her 2cents

I loved that song but lol my cousins were pissed. I know I was shocked when she released Starships I almost didn't give PFRR a chance.
This is the song
and lol Nicki is terrible , she will always be awful
what kind of PERFECT description?
And if Azealia turned down a collab to be disrespectful, that's messed up, but up-and-coming artists often have pretty crowded schedules, and a lot of what they're up to is contractually obligated. She may legitimately be too busy.
I hope she does well with this album. I wish there was a collabo with Gwen

AZEALIABANKS: @TheRealEve I'm kind of sad now

AB shouldn't use twitter to resolve this though.
TheRealEve: Def down to do a hot record @AZEALIABANKS
that's when Azealia replied
AZEALIABANKS: @TheRealEve would totally be down for that. :)
Azealia was basically like, fuck what the label wants, I want a collab with Eve

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
this is all sorts of perfect.
She can't have a female be successful, she wants to be the only successful one (but we all know that ship has sailed). Nothing more embarrassing than watching someone cling to their Z list stardom for dear life ala Lohan.
