Benedict Cumberbatch is Khan!

Even though Benedict Cumberbatch has denied repeatedly that he is playing Khan, a new Entertainment Weekly webpage has revealed that he is in fact Khan, and not John Harrison.

One of the best kept secrets in all of Hollywood has been, who is Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock") playing in Star Trek Into Darkness? If you look below you'll see that Entertainment Weekly has spoiled the surprise with the headline "Kirk & Khan." So, it looks like Cumberbatch will be filling be playing the classic Star Trek villain, originally played by Ricardo Montalban ("Fantasy Island").

My theory still remains: Peter Weller is Khan, Cumberbatch is a side-kick villain and this whole this has been misdirection.

antoniascarlett I def think BC is KHAN10th-Mar-2013 10:15 pm (UTC)
Captain, John Harrison is NOT who he claims to be. Our records indicate he is a war criminal from the Eugenics Wars of the late 21st century. His real name is…

Khan Noonien Singh.

*sorry for replying to an old comment. Also explains why BCs hair is black in the movie

Just saw this via a tweet that EW changed their site to edit Khan out. http://trekmovie.com/2013/02/07/did-ew-confirm-star-trek-into-darkness-villain-true-identity-not-really/

Wait, if there is a back story to why he was marooned, it could be interesting. Like a prequel.

How well EW got stuff right for the first one?

I can't believe I spent all that time anticipating this damn movie and now I have to put up with this bullshit. I will not support white-washing. If this is true, JJ, the casting director, and that reptile of a man can all kiss my natural black ass.

Fuck no.

I dun believe it.

But if it happens, JJ Abrams better run for his life.

This has happened like three times now. I think it's just lazy journalism but we'll see.

Nope, not believing it. Refusing.

Besides, A) the last movie was sort of like the Wrath of Nero and non Trek fans will be like "waaa it's too similar to the last movie", B) they would have to give Bones screen time for this plot line and lbr JJ's sole mission in life is to deprive the world of all of that gloriousness and C-Z) Bumperbuns Cooterstench as Khan? Really? No. Just no.

At least this is what I tell myself so I can sleep at night...
lostinshalott 8th-Feb-2013 02:42 am (UTC)
I reckon he's Khan you know, it's going to kill me but I reckon he is because anything less would be lack lustre
demented_21 8th-Feb-2013 03:34 am (UTC)
idk what to believe but it is a fact that Latino actors read for the villain part (I remember Edgar Ramirez was mentioned because I love him) and then Cucumbersalad was eventually cast. Did they switch villains? Because I refuse to believe they would consider a POC for a role other than Khan, they'd go white all the way imo.

That said, the scripts are so flimsy and pointless and the characterisation so one-dimensional that they could just search/replace the villain's name and virtually nothing would change So maybe that's what they did.

uh oh

that better not be true
