Despite Campaign Video, Lena Dunham Didn't Vote
A local politics blog says Dunham is registered to vote in Brooklyn but didn't in 2012

i hate people who don't vote - the right to vote is literally one that people die to have in some parts of the world, so hearing mostly privileged westerners talk about how they didn't vote because the line was too long is fucking offensive
I voted this election cycle, but I really wish people's first reaction to people who admit they didn't vote in one election wasn't automatically "JFC YOU FUCKING IDIOT", mostly because it is your choice and it's not like voting automatically makes you all knowing and smart.
it's cool for celebs to look politically active so she wanted to join in the fun too~
jesus christ
I live in Brooklyn, but I registered at my parents' Republican-filled district upstate because lbr, Brooklyn is blue up and down the board nowadays. I make that three hour drive every year because it's my DUTY, Lena Dunham.
Like, sure, it's your business whether you vote or not and I'd never want voting to be mandatory, but don't try to claim it's because it means nothing or because it's merely a presidential punch-out contest.
yes exactly, this always pisses me off! If you don't want to do something, at least make some fucking sense when you explain why not. But I don't think there's a sensible, intelligent reason to not vote (and this last election I heard every goddamn excuse there is), so, I guess they're all bound to sound stupid.

But I do think people want to hate her, especially, say, other female bloggers from the NYC area who wish that they had their own TV deals. The race issue first became a big deal (and is still only largely focused on representation for black people) because the girl who writes Racialicious had a freakout about it and tried to talk about how she deserved a TV show more because she's a better person who's better at having diverse friends. Whether or not these parts of the show are actually problematic, we need to look at what we're actually feeding into. There's a lot of jealousy toward Lena among other aspiring writers in NYC.
