Lindsey Vonn Airlifted to Hospital After Skiing Accident


Olympic gold medal skier Lindsey Vonn was airlifted to a hospital in Austria today after a frightening crash during the Alpine World Championships in Schladming.

Vonn lost her balance after landing awkwardly from a jump ... losing her ski and skidding into a gate. Doctors evaluated Vonn for more than ten minutes on the slope before she was loaded on to a helicopter and flown to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, the doctor who examined Vonn says he believes she suffered a tibial plateau fracture -- also known as a break in the shinbone.

Skiing scares me. I did used to want to try skiing/snowboarding in my teens. I was in awe with the sport.

Ngl, when I first heard she had an accident, I immediately thought of the guy who recently died in a snowmobile accident at the X games. Hope she'll be alright. :(

I hope she is okay. She was brave to come out with her battle with depression.


I was LITERALLY just reading an article by her in the Denver Post this morning.

I broke my wrist my first time skiing but what I saw last year really upset me. I was right behind this Texan couple on the ski lift and the girl didn't get off properly and her knee went almost under her leg, obviously bending in an unnatural direction. We saw ski patrol take care of her and she was in so much agony.

Totally read this as "Lindsay Lohan" and got really confused. Started thinking, "Oh, well, maybe she does skii and stuff."

I really hope that she has a fast recovery and that she'll be participating in Sochi. I know that some people think that she's arrogant but I like her and she was so brave to talk about her battle with depression.

Skiing terrifies me. Even more so after my coworker came back from a skiing trip and described the horror of skiing down the bunny hill as a beginner.

I have an irrational hate for Lindsay. Possibly due to NBC shoving her down my throat last winter olympics.

But i hope she'll be ok, but I don't think she'll be in Sochi

I'm from MN and so is she and she was all over the news here. I have a slightly rational hate of her, haha. But I still hope she heals well. Ugh, knee stuff gives me the shivers.

I can never ski, i tried the toboggan once and hit my aunt so hard she flew and did a cartwheel in the air.

it was hilarious yet....terrifying.

Heard she tore her ACL, MCL, and lateral tibial plateau force. That will take awhile to rehab. I hope she recovers quickly and can got to Sochi.
