Student athletes work their asses off to keep their grades up. I remember only encountering one "dumb jock" who missed 90% of the semester and was given special treatment to make up his assignments. Thou I think it depends on the coach and the teacher, on how the the students are treated. The women's basketball coach would never allow one of his players to ever think about missing a class, while the football coach didn't give a fuck.
