NBC Actually Makes a Good Decision for Once; Picks Up John Mulaney's Sitcom!

NBC handed out its 13th comedy pilot order Friday.

The network has picked up a semi-autobiographical comedy written by and starring hot stand-up comedian John Mulaney and executive produced by Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels.

The multicamera comedy is described as young ensemble vehicle loosely based on Mulaney's life.

The Universal Television entry hails from Michaels' Broadway Video shingle and 3 Arts and, should it go to series, would join Broadway's Up All Night at the network -- should the sophomore comedy's upcoming reboot prove successful.

The untitled comedy was one of a handful of projects Michaels' Broadway Video had in development this season, including entries starring Saturday Night Live's Kenan Thompson and Seth Meyers.

Michaels will exec produce the Mulaney project alongside Andrew Singer, Dave Becky and David Miner.

have you tried hannibal burress? i think he's in the same league as them.

I love Hannibal as a comedian (definitely in my top 10) but there isn't a lot of info on him as a person and the last time I stanned for a comedienne without knowing her real personality she ended up defending Tosh and I felt like an idiot.

I take comedy too seriously.

ohhh ok. fair enough.

I feel like pretty much all comedians defended Tosh

Aziz, Hari Kondabolu, W Kamau Bell, Eugene Mirman, and Mulaney didn't for sure. That's mostly what I meant by "never disappoint", they haven't proven themselves to be the typical insecure and unnecessarily offensive comedian(s).

Did they verbally come out against Tosh or did they just not comment on the situation?

glad to see all these names together because i listen to them almost daily. i might add kyle kinane to that list, but i haven't done background checks.

I love Eugene Mirman. If it weren't for Jon Benjamin, Eugene's name alone would have driven me to watch Bob's Burgers.

Do you listen to any podcasts? Pete Holmes show is really laid back, and open (the main points of convo are religion, comedy, and sex/love) so I feel like you get a pretty good sense of the person on his show. I know he has interviewed Hannibal, and I didn't really know Hannibal before the show but I remember liking him.

I do listen to You Made It Weird but it takes me a while to get though each episode because Pete Holmes can be very grating. Sometimes he's like Marc Maron in that I feel like I learn more about the host than the guest.

Are you talking about Chelsea Peretti?
maebytonight 5th-Feb-2013 08:54 am (UTC)
Yeah. I'm liking her new podcast but I don't think I'll ever be a fan of hers the way I was pre-Tosh
la_sikka 5th-Feb-2013 03:33 pm (UTC)
was it chelsea peretti? please dear god dont let it be chelsea.
