The wrong Direction: Racy Radio 1 DJ treats Harry to a stripper for his 19th birthday

As a man losing listeners at a rapid rate, you wouldn’t think Nick Grimshaw had much to celebrate. And having been blasted by parents as a ‘poor role model’ after a series of lewd remarks on Twitter, the Radio 1 DJ might want to consider keeping his head down. Instead he managed to upset even more people at the weekend – notably One Direction fans – by organising a lap dance for the band’s Harry Styles at a boozy party.

Photographs emerged of the un-named young woman stripping down to black lacy underwear while straddling the pop star at his 19th birthday bash. Grimshaw was pictured laughing hysterically during the ten-minute £100 striptease. A source at the restaurant said: ‘Nick seemed pretty pleased with himself when the stripper started her routine. He found it hilarious. Harry seemed embarrassed and didn’t know where to look, but he took it in good spirit.’

In September, Grimshaw, 28, was brought in to replace Chris Moyles as the presenter of the Radio 1 breakfast slot. But despite hopes that he would attract younger fans, the latest figures show he has pulled the lowest audience for almost seven years. The DJ, often seen partying with celebrity friends just hours before his early morning radio show, was criticised by concerned parents last year for using ‘foul language’ on his Twitter account.

Grimshaw joined Pixie Geldof and TV presenter Miquita Oliver for Styles’ birthday celebrations. The group of 40 friends drank 99 margaritas, 20 Jägerbombs, ten bottles of wine, beer and several bottles of Perrier-Jouët champagne in just three hours at Rita’s Bar and Dining, in Dalston, East London. Styles, who picked up the £2,000 bill, told a national newspaper it was a ‘great night’. Recalling the striptease, he said: ‘I was in stitches, it was really funny…unfortunately there was a no nudity policy in the bar.’ A source at the bar said a member of the group asked if the stripper could remove all of her clothing, but was refused. Staff said the guests later had a food fight with three specially-commissioned birthday cakes – carrot, chocolate and banoffee flavour. The group went on to The Alibi nightclub in East London, where they stayed until 4.15am. It was the second night out in a row for Grimshaw and Styles, who partied with actor James Corden until 4am the previous day at Soho’s Groucho Club. Yesterday, One Direction fans were quick to blame Grimshaw for the stripper episode, with one tweeting he was a ‘bad influence’.
