Can someone tell me why ontd hates TBBT? Except from the fact that these last two seasons aren't as good as the first three? I think it still has its good moments.
The writing's gone really downhill--all the characters are turning into broad stereotypes, and in particular Penny's being dumbed down and Amy's just sex-crazed and forever denied by Sheldon. Not to mention that Raj is turning into one big racist/gay joke. And I say this as someone who used to love it. :\\\\ It's still sometimes funny, though, and the cast is gr8. It's just the writing.
Yeah, I can understand this. I think it started going down when they introduced Amy and especially when they coupled her with Sheldon. I liked them when they were just friends, but now that they're together it irks me all the time, but all in all I still think it's a fun show. And I also get why the queerbaiting can be annoying, but after all it's not the only rom-com that does that. I find the hate a bit exaggerated sometimes, that's it :C
YES :'( I still watch this show and will always have love for it, but it's mainly out of loyalty and the cast chemistry. I've invested so much time...I can't quit now.
Well, as a nerd/geek/gamer/whathaveyou, the show isn't laughing 'with' me, it's laughing 'at' me. The nerds are the butt of the jokes. The audience is meant to be in Penny's shoes.
Someone wrote a really good comparison of TBBT and Community's treatment of nerds and go figure I can't find it right now.
i hate it bc i'm about to finish a phd in chemistry, and it doesnt really represent phd scientists at all. the only reason i can think that people find the jokes funny is because it makes them feel smart for understanding them, idk
I don't like any Chuck Lorre sitcoms because they are all very formulaic, and the jokes are lazy/obvious.
I feel like people think TBBT is something different because it is about nerds, but like someone already said it is just a different version of 2 1/2 Men. And the few episodes I have seen I do find to be very sexist, they are basically pandering to the white male nerdy "nice" guy demographic (most of reddit).
i haven't watched it in ages, the last time i did there was literally no plot or connection between any of the episodes ever, it was all just filler shit and dumb jokes so i was like, yep i'm out
I just watched the first couple of seasons of the TBBT and really enjoyed it, I honestly had no idea that people hated it so vehemently. I really don't get it.
They hate it because the writing got worse in the last 2 seasons and apparently nerds are mad because they think it's offensive to nerds? Idk much about that last thing.
i loved the first few seasons, but along the way, i felt there was no character growth (especially with sheldon), and it felt like the same schtick over and over again, so i slowly outgrew it.
I don't watch either of her shows, but her stand up bothers me. Not only is it not very funny, but it's the "look I'm one of the guys! PENIS JOKES!" Which is kind of sad, because that seems to be the only way a woman can make it in stand up. Chelsea Handler, Sarah Silverman, and Whitney are successful because their jokes are geared toward the douchebro sense of humor.
Maybe it's just because that genre of humor doesn't appeal to me, but I can't help but feel that that path to fame may do more harm than good. It just feels like these women are fitting themselves into the formulatic popular stand up mold instead of carving their own way.
i think i've stopped watching after that ep where sheldon spanks amy
it was so uncomfortable and uncalled for wtf

"LOL ANOTHER SILLY NERDY THING"

It's like being stuck in the worlds worst ventrilo server ever.

yeah, no.... kind of makes me wish I was more of a nerd, tbh
