Another YA Adaptation Gets Its Cast

‘Vampire Academy’ movie producers announce first string of castings

VA, a young adult series taking place in current time and focusing on Rose Hathaway, a dhampir (half human/half vampire) who finds her time stretched between training to be a guardian for her best friend, Lissa and navigating the ups and downs of first love, has found its leading cast members.

Preger Entertainment (Village of the Damned, The Day of the Triffids), the production company who bought the rights to Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy back in 2010, announced on their official Facebook page today that Zoey Deutch (Beautiful Creatures, Ringer), Lucy Fry (Lightening Point) and Russian actor, Danila Kozlovsky (Gulf Stream Under the Iceberg, Shpion) would be joining the film.

It’s not clear who is playing who, but just from the book descriptions it would seem that Deutch is set to play “Rose”, Fry “Lissa” and Kozlovsky “Dimitri”.

Dan Waters (Heathers) has penned the script and Mark Waters (Mean Girls) will be directing. (They’re brothers!)

VA fans, are you happy with these castings? What were your fan casts?

posted this in the FFAF, but might as well re-post it here since this is a proper book post...

What are some of the best history books or autobiographies on historical figures? I need some recs. Not too interested in USA history as much, but anywhere else in the world, from WWI era and earlier is interesting to me.

European royals and badass women in particular appeal to my interests.

Queen Isabella: Treachery, Adultery, and Murder in Medieval England by Alison Weir

basically anything by Weir is interesting and readable, she's done a lot of writing on the Tudors too

no problem! i absolutely adore isabella but weir's written her only modern biography.

also anything on eleanor of aquitaine, empress matilda, margaret of anjou if you enjoy historical badass ladies. anglo centric, but fun.
bodyline 2nd-Feb-2013 03:19 am (UTC)
any particular book or author on those ladies you'd rec?
khlassique 2nd-Feb-2013 03:26 am (UTC)
i know that marjorie chibnal wrote a good biography on matilda, and there's a collection of essays on eleanor called "eleanor of aquitaine: lord and lady" edited by john carmi parsons & bonnie wheeler that i read for a class and really liked.

there's also "she wolves: women who ruled england before elizabeth" by helen castor, which is more popular history but good for an introduction/branching off point.

I really loved The Aristocrats by Stella Tillyard, it's about a family of four sisters who led pretty interesting lives but they're not that well-known so idk how you'll like that.

But if you're into European royals, you should prob. read The Sun King by Nancy Mitford, it's not great history but she does bring Versailles alive. Also her Madame de Pompadour biog. is good, she was a really good writer.
